How simple should we start out our microbes? At the most simple forms of life, or maybe a little more advanced? Doe we start as the first cell ever, the first single-celled animal ever, or something else? If we do start as the first cell ever, how simple will it be?

Hmm. I think a nucleus at least is necessary for it to be a controllable organism. Further than that, i don't know.

So, if a nucleus is required, we would not start as a bacteria-level cell, but a little further along the lines.

Maybe we could observe our little bacteria untill they are advanced enough to play as.

I think we should allow a choice. Someone may want to ty and play as a bacteria, while others may want to skip that seeing as playing as a bacteria is really only the player trying to become a eukayote.

We should not limit what type of Cell the player can be. After all, we did allow them to be plants and parasites in the Multicellular Areas.

so mandatory parts for a cell in the beginning are:

cytoskeleton
nucleus
chloroplasts (depending if its a plant cell or hybrid)

thats all i can think of for a starting cell.

Chloroplasts would develop later. Instead, some sort of organelle that makes energy, which could evolve into a chloroplast or into another way of making energy.

Also, maybe a flagella or some other way of moving? Because being unable to move would make it practically impossible to command your cell.

The necessary Organelles required for a Cell to survive are:
  • The Cell Membrane
  • Centrioles, Centrosomes and the Cytoskeleton
  • Vesicles

But would anyone want to play as a flagella less cell, unable to control their own microbe?

Psuedopods and any kind of undulapod require the Cell Membrane to be connected into a certain way by the Cytoskeleton. The player will use Psuedopods to move their cell.

obviously, and for your previous post you need a cytoplasm for paryoxnms, useful to stop free radicals, but for other vesicles you need a golgibody.

Oops, I did miss a few things.., OK, new list:
  • Information Storage (DNA, RNA, Other Alternatives)
  • Cell Membrane (Vesicles)
  • Cytoplasm
  • Ribosomes (+ Vesicles = Lysosomes, Peroxisomes, etc.)
  • Centriole, Centrosomes and Cytoskeleton (+ Cell Membrane = Flagella and Psuedopods)

Mitochondria are just symbiotes that only appear in Eukaryotic Cells, not Prokaryotic Cells.

I think simple Eukaryotic organism. Bacteria is too simple. But don't but anything like a mitochondriac until later stages.

But prokaryotic cells don't have any organelles at all.

Oh. I'm just spitting back what I learned in science. We learned that prokaryotes are organelle-less.

I must agree.

So, we will start as bacterioids, and then progress to cells, and so forth?

Prokaryotes have organelles, they just are not bound by membranes.

Prokaryotes have no membrane-bound organelles and no membrane-bound nucleus.
i think we should start out as eukaryotes.

On other planets, life may not require a nucleus. We should allow the computer to obtain solutions by itself. Unless.., are you talking about all life or just the player?

I think the player should start out eukaryotic, a protist-like organism. Other life can be however we want, but as a eukaryote, the game can be exciting and interesting.
