| Hello Thrive Team! I am Jacob Chambers, a high school programmer, web developer and biologist. I heard about this project last November by reading the comments on NerdCubed's Spore series, and I have been closely following this project ever since. I've been delighted watching the first tentative releases of Thrive and all the prototypes available. I'm looking forward to contributing in every way I can! My Skills: - Spoiler:
Programming For the past ~6 months I've been studying C and C++. I've been focusing on basic command line tools, so my current knowledge could be helpful in bug fixing/code optimization while the experienced programmers work on adding new features to the game. This is an area of heavy interest for me and I'm expecting to learn a lot more C++ in the months to come! Biology I am currently enrolled in honors biology at my high school with a 97% average in the class. I am incredibly interested in biology and have been learning anything I can both in and out of class. I have even enrolled in AP Biology next year, one of only a select few students in my grade that are allowed to. I can't wait to help with the biology of Microbe/Multicelluar Stage in particular! Web Development I've been building websites since I was 11 and have a sound portfolio of projects under my belt. My most recent project is my personal website, wjacobc.com. I'm well versed in HTML5 and CSS3 and I am currently increasing my basic knowledge of JavaScript/jQuery. I really believe in Responsive Web Design and I believe all websites must be future-friendly. I have also won two awards for my design/development projects (not trying to brag, I promise...). So, in light of all this, I decided to take a crack at redesigning the Revolutionary Games website. About a month ago I created the first prototype. It uses the Twitter Bootstrap framework to provide an consistent experience across all platforms and on all devices. I have designed it to be completely consistent with the Thrive Forum's latest theme. If you want to take a look, and offer some advice/critique, you can check it out at wjacobc.com/thrive. Also, Oliveriver, send me a PM so we can discuss your new website design mockups.
So, that's me. I'm incredibly excited about the future of Thrive and am proud to be helping you guys every step of the way.

| Welcome to the team, WJacobC!
Your website design looks amazing, although at the moment it feels a little void of information. You've done a great job of summing up the entire game in a few paragraphs, and while there are links to more information some things are missing, for instance you haven't mentioned that it's a game for PC, Linux and Mac rather than a console game, or how players will evolve. This is not a big problem, but any newcomers will either be left without all the important information, or will have to go to the forums, which are, let's be honest, a confusing mess for anyone not familiar with them.
But don't get me wrong, your website is still excellent! What program did you use to build it? I only ask because I use a relatively obscure program to build mine and not all features may be transferrable. The forum background works on your website, but whether it will work on mine I'm not sure. I would, however, like to know how you made the bar at the top of the page remain in place as you scroll. Most of the pages on my website are quite long, so having something like that which doesn't force the user to return to the top of the page might be quite useful.
It would be great to work with you on the website(s), so just send me a message if you have any ideas.

| @Oliveriver Glad you like the design and good points all around. I'll work on adding more content over the next few days. In regards to how I made the website, no fancy program here. I'm just using plain HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery. Unfortunately, this means almost none of the design aspects of either website are transferable, due to the responsive nature of my design. I'm going to work on converting the shards and content of your design into mine and see how it turns out. It may take a while however. I'll see what I can do.
@WilliamsTheJohn Thanks for the warm welcome!

| Hey! Nice to have you on the team, you got some nice skills that fit what we are searching! Good job with the website, taking initiative is definitely appreciated! You must be pretty busy working on the website, but if you want to get involved in the development team, I would suggest to go to the Build thread ( https://thrivegame.canadaboard.net/t1101p30-build-system-discussion ) and try to build the code source. Nimbal made tools to ease the process as much as possible. Report any problems there to help us make it better! So welcome! | |

| Wow, thanks for the welcome RodGame! Glad that I fit the bill for the team. I'll try to build the game later using Nimbal's build system, but as I said I'm still learning C++ so I won't be able to contribute too much more than bug fixes/testing. Anyway, glad to be here, and be sure to tell me what you think of the newest website design!(WJacobC.com/thrive)
@untrustedlife, Isn't honors biology the greatest?
