| I have known thrive for about a year now and decided to get involved. I would really love to contribute to the project but I don't know what I can do at the moment, if anything. Here are my skills: I consider myself an expert in astronomy
I know a little astrobiology
I have an amazing animation software that is unbelievably easy to use, and it can be used for a profit organization (I know thrive is nonprofit) if I use my own models, textures, sounds, particle systems, and maps. However, the difficulty is getting the textures and models into it; and I cant model or texture.
and I now a little CMD
That's it then, I would appreciate it if someone would tell me were I could start doing something.

Welcome to the forum, RobotGuy! - RobotGuy wrote:

Guess we're on the same boat. - RobotGuy wrote:

Always useful considering the game revolves around extraterrestrial life. You will probably be most interested in the organism and microbe stages, although do take into account that the latter has a concept that is already around 99% complete. Right now systems are being discussed. Although some technical terms may be thrown around, you will probably understand most of the discussion taking place. - RobotGuy wrote:

Animations will become a very important asset later on, but right now there isn't much to be made, unfortunately. - Quote :

We are using C++ as the programming language of choice, although prototypes can be made in any language. We are also using ogre and lua. - RobotGuy wrote:

Before anything, here is a thread that explains the forum jargon: Click hereHere is a thread concerning how biomes will work in-game: Click hereHere is a thread describing the current concept of the organism editor: Click hereA rather technical discussion of microbial compounds and organelles: Click hereAn animation by Oliveriver to give you an idea on how the microbe stage is supposed to look: Click hereHow evolution will work: Click hereA quite technical explanation of the population dynamics: Click hereThat is all I can come up with now.

| Welcome to Thrive RobotGuy!
Astronomy and astrobiology will help, but animation will be the most useful. As we organize the efforts towards completing all parts of the Microbe Stage, animation will definitely be useful, such as with animating the dissipation and flow of compounds floating in the water, of the movement and displacement of the cell's body and its parts, etc. Could you clarify what it means when you say only your assets will load into it?

| The software comes with it's own content, but I'm only allowed to use my own content for profit. Also I'm not sure the animator works with games, however I also have blender and know a little animating with that. I'm not sure though, I don't know anything about game making or C++ programming. | |
