PostSubject: Glucose and oxygen dispensers.   Mon May 05, 2014 3:41 am

So at the moment I feel that the 'dispensers' of oxygen and glucose feel very work in  progress. I have made an idea thread to improve game aesthetics concerning compound collection:

  • Instead of looking like oxygen molecules, the dispensers are bubbles like the toxins. Oxygen might be two bubbles joined together.

  • To improve the whole mechanic of collecting, when you touch a bubble, it pops and you absorb the compound. That means no OP ATP factorys.

  • Carbon! have carbon atoms that specialised organelle can make into CO2.

  • Photosynthesis! Your cell can unlock the ability to photosynthesize like a plant using the CO2 that your cell makes. And guess what? Photosynthesis makes oxygen and glucose! The two ingredients for ATP. this means more scientific less-op  ATP factorys.

I've made some quick sprites for the compounds and also rushed popping/shattering animation frames (Would only look good if played fast).

The current dispensers of compounds are only placeholders; They're planned to be subsituted by 'compound clouds' in the future, and they won't be infinite sources of their specific compound, nor will they be moveable by the player.

Chloroplasts are already planned, though they aren't in the current realese either.

I do not know if this have been discussed or not tough.

At the moment, the dispensers are a placeholder, as Cheese said. The ultimate goal will be to have compounds exist in particle clouds that float around and spread in your environment, like droplets of ink in water.

I think that glucose should be clouds where oxygen is bubbles. Makes sense? CO2 should be bubbles in my opinion as well.

Well bubbles exist as a decorative feature in the Microbe Stage, and the oxygen and carbon dioxide that is found is dissolved in the water, which is why its found in clouds like the rest of the compounds.
