I've been reading around for a while
and from what I gather
it seems to me it's more like a scientific simulation,
I think I'm missing the game factors of it
can anyone clarify that for me please?

It's a balance! We base as much of the game on science as possible while keeping it a fun game.

The HUD/GUI is just something I threw together as a programmer and not a designer, the real GUI for the microbe stage is in its final stages and you can read about it here: http://thrivegame.canadaboard.net/t1323p120-microbe-gui-finalisation

Hey, it's nice that you're so willing to point out stuff to improve, but we've had problems before with people posting a new thread for every single thing. So please. Post here. If this is meant to be your application thread, then it would be a good idea to talk about you and what you could bring to the table, instead of all this.
