While your creature evolves, its cells could still change as well, especially if they had new organs that needed new tissues. Perhaps, in the organism editor, there would be a button to press that would make the cell editor pop up, allowing you to edit cells, and then send tissues of those cells to the organism editor.
Also, once your species has unlocked genetic engineering, they would be able to access the editor as well. How would it be different?

I don't think building specialized cells is necessary, we don't show them, and we don't really have uses for designating different tissues as far as i can see.

Agreeing with Scio.

Don't get us wrong- it's a really cool idea, but it just doesn't have much we can apply it to, realistically.

I think it's definitely enough to be able to create your own microbes. I mean, a lot of our own internal microbes were engulfed at some point (our gut microbes, for instance) and there's not a lot of fancy things you can do to cells inside a body and still have them function. You get your variation primarily in red and white blood cells (as everything else is basically a really tiny generic type of lego brick to build a highly specialized organ) and since the information on those is unnecessarily complicated, it would be best just to leave that be.
However, different comment: are we storing a species' "immunities" somewhere? (As in, if it conquers a disease once, is our game going to remember that and not pop up an identical disease?)
And that probably opens up a whole 'nother can of worms in another thread. If I find an appropriate other place to stick that question, I will do so.

We won't really need immunities because diseases will be random.

See the thread on Zombies in the Other section.
Seen, considered, and irrelevant to the point that I thought I was making. Posted there to clear up some misinformation about "nervous system failure" too. Unless you're asking about the immunities part?

I was actually talking about the immunities part. It was only discussed briefly, but most people agreed that immunities would be added to an organism's ShareCode.
