Project Task Managment Empty
PostSubject: Project Task Managment   Project Task Managment EmptyMon Mar 18, 2013 2:38 am

It's very difficult to tell what needs to get done for this project, and sorting through all the posts and topics is daunting. If there was a way to create a new topic that the Senior Developers can post specifically what needs to get done, I believe it would be extremely helpful in moving this project forwards.

The other thing I would like to comment on is the depth this project is going into. While its great that the detail and goal for this project is to be as realistic as possible, it's also setting back the progress of actually creating the game. Basically, spending too much time on figuring out all the little intricacies before proceeding with creating the project.

I'd recommend setting up a cycle with 3 basic steps.
1. Design
2. Implementation
3. Analysis.
(repeat)

Since I'm more familiar with the auto-evo topic than the others I'll use that as my example
Spoiler:

The important part is to break it down into manageable chunks, and not over-design. Basically starting with something simple and continually building on it until we are satisfied in the analysis phase of it. If we wait until we are satisfied with the design, it gets very overwhelming during the implementation and more difficult to analyze it systematically to figure out where exactly an issue is when trying to evaluate it based on the goals. (I.E. the creatures are evolving predictably, is that because we used the wrong parameters to modify, the wrong "tweaking" method, or is it the way the environment dynamics are set up?)

(I realize there are a lot of grammar errors. I'm sorry, but it's late and I think you should still understand what I'm saying)

Project Task Managment Empty
PostSubject: Re: Project Task Managment   Project Task Managment EmptyMon Mar 18, 2013 2:51 am

Excellent post gdt. Although this exact same point has been raised before multiple times, it is always great to get a fresh reminder for our development. That is a very good model of development too, I might add.

On the topic of task lists, I have created several. I have not checked over them recently, mostly due to schoolwork that has now finally ended. Since it has, I will try to maintain them again, but I would have no objection if other means or threads are used for task management.

Here they are:
