| Word to my nerds!
Wow guys. I have to say, I'm impressed and kind of surprised that you guys have stuck with this. Especially considering how many familiar handles are on these boards.
For anyone I'm not familiar with, hi. I'm Redstar. I made a bunch of words in the old Evolutions! forums, and then I went away just before those boards sank beneath the weight and waves of Sven's bulls#!t.
For people I know: You guys, the past... year? Wow. The past year has been totally crazy. I've worked at 2 PAXes, traveled around the US, met some really amazing people and been part of some incredible stuff. I totally know people in the games industry now. I hang out with the guy who organizes PAX kind of a lot.
The downside to my rock and roll lifestyle is that I don't have a ton of free time; what time I do have, lately, goes into Minecraft (god help me). The upside is that when this project finally gets to a state where it's ready to be shown to people, I am well capable of ensuring that it is shown to the right people. If it's good, I can get it noticed.
So where are you guys at? What do I *have* to read to get current? Is there anything close to a design doc yet? Do you still use anything I wrote (my inner egoist compels me to ask)? Does everyone still constantly argue about stuff that should've been agreed upon a long time ago?
Also, I heard you have a real, live programmer or two now? Shiny.
Anyway, I make no promises. I'm slightly less busy than I used to be at the moment, but that could change at any moment. Still, this project has a special place in my heart, and I'm genuinely happy to see people still putting time and effort into making it happen.
The game being made here is still the only game I really want to play.

| Wow. Haven't seen you for a while, Red. Basically, you'll want to gloss over this: http://thrivegame.wikidot.com/. It's our wiki. It's still a work in progress, and things are being added all the time. Yes, we have a programmer, and yes, we do tend to recycle things. But a lot is set in stone now. SCs are in, as is your research generation method in some form. The Org Editor is staying how it's been since Scio first suggested his great idea (minor adjustments made from time to time, but they are lowering in frequency). Also, one thing that Bashi (that's our programmer) is really trying to do is make it so that when there are two clearly divided options in our conceptual work, there are two options in the game. It's going to be as flexible as a ballerina in bed.
But i am sorry to say that your Research Tree may have been superseded... By mine. It's incomplete, but a lot larger than yours was. However, there are a few things people still disagree on in relation to researches. Some people want tiers of researches, others want separate researches for different levels (the latter is better, i've heard...). And, that's probably it. Read the Devblog to see if there's anything that i've missed.
Oh, and right now Bashi is working on the Org Editor. The very core of the game. I don't know much about programming, but i hear it's a masterpiece in the making. Once it's finished we'll really have something to show.

| MIND = BLOWN
First Bashinerox, and now you?
Wow, nowhereland must be jam-packed right now. I half-expect everyone else to appear randomly, maybe come rushing out all at once in a big crowd, ala tiny elevator in an office building.
Also, a fellow Minecrafter eh?
MIND = BLOWN AGAIN
Seriously, do we really have that many people playing Minecraft around the forum? Well, come to think of it it does make sense, it's all the rage, and for good reason. Have an IGN? Maybe we could build one of those huge towers that end up going past the clouds!
But I digress. Thrive is what we need to focus on for the time being. And, almost forgot, welcome back Redstar!

| I came, I read, I joygasmed.
I really, really, really, REALLY can't believe you're back. My God. It's thanks to you in part that this is still happening. WOW. Just.... WOW. I can't beleive you're here.
Alot of your stuff has been implemented, though you'll have to dig around to find most of it. As Alaska said, we descided it would be best to make a comprehensive research list from the ground up, taking bare bones and slowly layering on anything needed or desired. It's also let us take a deeper look at the mechanics of the game.
I'm thrilled to see you've gotten so much done. I don't care that it's not directly helping us. I feel proud I suppose. Not to mention your promise to help us advertise when the time comes. It's coming sooner than expected I might add. Our shiny new programmer is creeping towards proto-proto-prototype A1Alphafirstonewegots: the beginings of the skeletal tab in the Organism Editor. Once we have that up, I'd say we have something to brag about. ^^
And wow. If you stop by here at all, AT ALL, you have no idea how great that'd be. You really did take what was an embaressment of a project and whip it into the shape we are now. We have goals. We have agreed upon systems. We are prepared. We are WORKING now, not just faffing about. And if you could contribute anything at all... Well let's just say your opinion carries alot of weight, with me at least.
~Tenebrarum, the Lesbian Transexual Gamer~
P.S. I'm getting minecraft as soon as is humanly possible. ^^

| Too late, everyone has said all there is to say.
As far as I know the closest thing to a concept document is the research tree concept, and there's the main concept document from ages ago. But the wiki is probably the best place to go, though, and will get better as time progresses.
So welcome back, Redstar! It's been a long time. A really long time.

| Sup,
I'm the programmer. The only currently active programmer at the moment, too. I've gotta make this brief, it's a saturday and I'm having a night on the town
Design docs for the game engine is mostly on paper, and I don't really want to convert it all to digital format. Also, i don't have a scanner.

| Hey, welcome back! I already wrote a mail inviting you back and I was searching for a contact to you a bit, and now you show all by yourself.
Also, it seems Minecraft spread a lot on these forums. I'm quite ssSSssssSSS --- *boom* - oh sorry about that, didn't want to blow up your home. Anyway, I'm quite surprised so much people play Minecraft here, but it's logical, with the recent media storm. Anyone wants a Minecraft-dedicated topic (possibly with some MC concept art?)

| Wow. Did not expect to see you again, Red. I had kinda thought of you the way that you would a somewhat-close relative that died a long time ago. Well, welcome back. The thread title's a little insulting, but I'm sure there's a joke there that I'm just too dumb to catch. Yes, we do have coders now, one of which I have not seen in a long time. Bashi's the head coder. He could easily end up professionally coding (that's what he's in college for, right?). We have a few things that are being debated (can't name any particular things) and Bashi, who points out what is and isn't possible to code. So that's basically what's going on now. Oh, yeah. I used to be invaderzim132. You know, the annoying one? - Poisson wrote:

Correct. That's what we'll inevitably end up doing to Bashi. @Sciocont: Come on! I can top that! - Spoiler:

| Thanks for the warm welcome-back, everybody. I'm really super glad you're at least making a show of not having any hard feelings for my vanishing. Also (I meant to say this earlier), the visuals you guys have going on here are frakkin' pimp. I love the look of these boards. The name is great, too - I don't remember what camp I was in back when the debate was happening, but looking at it now, Thrive is perfect for this project. And if I was on the wrong team back then... well, I've got revisionism. - Poisson wrote:

In the interest of credit where it's due: I got an email from YourBreakfast back in July, but it got buried in my inbox and I never actually read it until... well, until right before I posted here. So thanks, YB (or whatever incarnation you're currently in). - InvaderZim wrote:

No offense meant - I was paraphrasing one of the more famous Hutts (besides Pizza). So the reference works out to you guys being cool-Belgium bounty hunters, and me being a sentient, turd-looking slug made of pure lard and corruption. ... Hmm. If I'd thought that all the way through, I probably wouldn't have said it. So one last thing before I roll up my sleeves and start posting in real sections (you poor bastards ). Anyone who ever goes to PAX must let me know. I work backstage in the Main Theatre now at both of them (which gets me face time with everyone who's ever onstage at PAX... heh heh heh), so if you come to see anything on the main PAX stage, you have to come find me and say hey. Somebody from the group should probably try and get to PAX. If anybody wants any info at all on it, get in touch with me. I've become something of an expert in the past nine months. Alright. I'm goin' in. See you kids on the boards.

Alright. I'm goin' in. See you kids on the boards. Unfortunately, both me and Bashi live all the way down here in Australia. And i know Keen is in some little European country no one's ever heard of (Joking Keen, we all love the Czech Republic, at least they're sticking it to the Russians). I can't speak for either of the others, but i know i won't get there.

| Nor I, sadly. I'd need a plane to go to any other state, so I don't really have a chance at all. Maybe when I'm in college, but even then I'd be busy with school and work. But no matter. I'll still have my computer. | |

| I won't be at PAX anytime soon. I really need to save up money for college and my Male-to-female transition. If I do end up there, you'll most certainly get a message.
And please do post in our real boards. As I said: Your opinion carries a lot of weight.

| RED! Long time no see! I remember those horrible days when Evo collapsed. And when you left...well.. I thought it was the end....
Well to quickly summarise it, we started a new forum, but after not a lot of activity it kinda went dead. Scio, the reviver and sole person who I think saved this project *again* from death, made this forum. Alaska and other members started coming back, and day by day, it was rebuilt.
Pretty much it; yeah we've gotz some tasty programmers that are amazing and now it's really a matter of helping them out and informing them on what we wan from time to time.
Great to see you back. I always though me and you got along well. I kinda think of the timeline of our project and the obstacles we faced were a sort of test which brought back time and time again, the best and most dedicated people.
Good to see you anyways.

Not to take anything from what Scio did, but we moved again because the second forum crashed for some reason.
