I was digging around some of my older games when I came across 'WarZone 2100'. I had another go of it and thought that some of the features were pretty genius, so knowing you guys want to deviate as much from Spore as possible, I thought you'd probably benefit from this far superior 'civilization' gameplay style. Below is a link to a free singlelayer game with no sign up - it's pretty old, but a dev team is reviving it.

Just thought the tech and vehicle systems are worth pointing out. A brief overview is;
1) Research parts. (Chassis, turret, propulsion)
2) Create vehicle from said parts.
3) Manufacture vehicle.

A much more advanced version of this would be perfect for THRIVE. The parts could deviate from the WZ's template by adding other classes - armor, special equipment, additional parts (such as extra seats or a troop carrying part) etc.

Tell me what you guys think!

Welcome to the project, Demongoat. You're completely right that that sort of tech advancement is perfect for Thrive- we're already using a system similar to what you suggested. Check out some thereads with the Tech Editor, Nation Editor, and Tech tree.

Remember our goals: simplicity, science, and playability. Keep them in mind always.
