In a documental i saw it said that every period ends with a extinction ¿should we do that?¿ have you thought of it?

Why have periods when the game is dynamic?

I think i understand, but i don`t see the point of marking a period when something goes extinct. If it goes extinct it will go extinct.

See, how we'd handle that is, if a less-adaptable group of species died off, leaving a bunch of niches open, there would be a sudden burst in species differentiation to fill up those slots. That would count as a mass "extinction" and the end of an era, but we're not going to force that. We have a "random disaster generator," some discussion on diseases, and other things to prod evolution along already.
