my father bought me this game yesterday and it feels like we should use the game as a guide in basic stuff of the "tribal and civilisation stage"

No. thats a turn based game thats sticks to a cartoony way of play. even if we did want to use a civilization game for a guide then civilization 4 would be better. even so that game only simulates a turn based HUMAN civilization. so no. definitely not. no offense its just a bad idea.

relax............ this wasn't completely a bad idea there are some key points in civilization revolution this we should remember and this made me think of another thread.

We have taken some inspiration from some civ games in the past (notably, the ever-present monster, the tech tree,) but we don't want to be too much like them.

Still, making note of what other games did right or wrong is a good way to make sure we're on the right track here.
