I have basic knowledge of how to use blender 3d (modelling software) to make meshes and i'm sure i can help in some way? i've read the wiki and this game seems to have pretty solid concepts and alot to go.

Blender's good: last I heard Alaska was messing around with it in the hopes that we can get something finished in cell stage.

General scientific and gaming knowlege is also good. I won't imitate scio (project head along with Alaska) and tell you to read the wiki, since you've just done so, but there are a few current concept threads here that haven't precisely made it over to the wiki yet, as there are still a few kinks to be worked out. I reccomend reading those, in your case especially the cell and auto-evo ones.

Oh, I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Calli, and I run... something... around here. Currently I've just wrapped up current concept for Biomes, which are going to have a pretty big impact on where we put our aliens, and I also run translation team if you happen to be bilingual.

Oh yeah, and as I'm first responder I have to say: "Welcome to the team."

yeah, i know what biomes are. They're stuff like desert landscape, forest, and stuff like that which determine what is in a certain region right? Because, originally, spore was supposed to have biomes, but EA decided biomes were pretty advanced stuff and EA wanted spore to be as simple as possible for maximum profit. other things removed include the aquatic stage, gore (while it was primitive), and the somewhat complex features of creature stage. Really, the only advanced thing that stayed in spore was the meta tech (very mathematical balls which can connect to each other in a smooth, nice way. They surround the spine bits in the animal editors)

Welcome to the team, jaws2blood! Remember to not dwell too much on Spore and what it did or didn't have. This is our own game, we don't need to worry about what came before. Just think about what we can make and how good it can be.
