Hello, I am Grep, the future overlord of the world. I LOVE this idea and really hope that it keeps on... thriving. I found it through a YouTube comment O_O. I don't know technology or computers, but I do know organisms. Personally, I have worked out ways to make dragons possible. Or, explain how they would work. Specifically, I am good at behavior and organs.

Welcome!

As you are probably aware, you should check out the Wiki and FAQs, found on the panel to the left near the top, to get an idea of current progress.

You may be interested in giving a few suggestions in the Organ Design Thread, too (one of the first suggestions was fire-breathing, so that's taken), but if you feel like coming up with a few organs or pointing out we've missed some existing ones then that's the place to go.

You may also want to give some ideas for the content of the Behaviour Editor:
Spoiler:

This the most detailed concept we have at the moment. The Behaviour Editor Thread currently contains some old discussion of where in the Organism Editor it will be accessible, and some stuff about poses. If you're interested I'd highly suggest giving ideas for it. Plus, you don't have to check whether an idea has been covered or not, because I think I just covered the entire current concept. Easy!

P.S. The YouTube comment strikes again, eh?

lol, yup. Anyway, I hope I can be some actual help to you guys. Can I ask, about how far would you say the game is and how long until it's finished. I assume, since you're taking suggestions, it's not that far.

Well, we have and will always be taking suggestions, because Thrive is being designed and made by the community (i.e. anyone who comes along) and is open-source (so anyone can take a copy of the code and do with it what they want).

Conceptually, I doubt Thrive will ever be complete. We constantly get new ideas, and discuss and finalise old ones. There's no point at which we can or will say we've done.

Programming-ly, I doubt Thrive ever will be complete. This is due to the above - we wont be finishing conceptually at any set point. As for what programmed stuff we have - we have a menu, and bouncy circles of several sizes and colours. Also, the code may be redone from scratch to make the code better for future stuff, so possibly nothing permanent.

So, progress is 0% of a potential infinite, but 100% of what we have so far.
To put it another way, we have more progress than when we started, and will make more progress in the future.

...Yeah. I'm no good at explaining current progress. Someone, make sense of my rambling.

... ok. Well, your idea sounds really cool. I hope the organism creator is released soon, but, then again, it must be pretty complex to program an' all. I'll try to help, but no gareentees on what I'll be able to do. I can make concept art, design organs, analyzable behavior, but anything past that is a big ?

Hi there! Well, even though we haven't got a set release date, cell stage is likely to be released in the semi-near future. It's currengly being changed from random bouncing circles to self-propelled circles.

Our unofficial motto is "contribute what you can, make the rest up as we go along."
