Now that we decided that Darwinian evolution will not work in gameplay, how will the species evolve without us controlling it?

We don't know yet.

Or at least, as far as I know.

Wait when did we decide that.

This mode is basically God-Mode without Powers.

Our programmer guy whose name I cannot spell said that there was no possible way to program Darwinian evolution.

Yes this. PROBABLY. Meaning i wont code PROPER darwinian evolution myself, because i dont know where to start. The source code is freely available though, and anyone is invited to write a module to produce it. The link to the source is on the forums here somewhere.

We're going to be able to test out a bunch of different variants on evolution systems, and narrow them down from there. We'll need lots of beta testers, but there's plenty of people around the internet who would love to test and mod this game.

We'll need to get a sizable amount of data in order to make a decision on which system we should use.

Back on topic:
Mechanics for this mode
  • Mouse pan/zoom in/rotate control
  • can select for camera to follow an organism
  • can select for camera to see through organism's senses
  • infinite mobility (go anywhere)
  • player can set up camera paths (basically a path which the camera follows to get a swooping view, circling view, etc.

that's the basics
