| You could use the alchemy lab to develop new alloys, maybe? | |

| No, forges, smithies, and other smelting machines are used for that. You are overestimating the capabilities of an alchemical lab. Elemental synthesis, metal alloying, those are all different processes. Really all it does is make gunpowder. | |

| Well, now that makes me think, are there going to be metal alloys in any planned build for the game? | |

| If this is going to be one of those projects that is constantly underway, like Minecraft, it would be more practical to include features and details like that post-release. For now we have to focus on getting important stuff done. | |

| Well, that's what my question is about, asking whether it will be present in the game at all. I am taking the answer of my previous question about land vehicle traction into account. | |

Of course, it's not difficult at all. They are part of the compound system just like any other compound. They just need to be made out of a combination of different ores, instead of just one.

| Now, just to satisfy my curiosity, what effects would be possible when making these alloys? | |

| They would just be different compounds. There's nothing special about it. These compounds would probably just be less dense, stronger, along those lines. | |

| Actually, that was just what I was looking for, definitely enough to inspire experimentation on my part. | |

| It's been a while since I last posted, and I was wondering what happened while I was gone. What prototypes have been made? Breakthroughs in concepts? Who was hit by a meteor?
I just would like basic updates made in the past month.

| To keep track of the coding progress, check out the game's GitHub repository (https://github.com/Revolutionary-Games/Thrive). In terms of the forum, there has been relatively little I can recall that has occurred recently, besides the posting of the next podcast to our youtube channel. | |

| Okay, so my main question here is how is Thrive going to allow the player to learn from their mistakes? The scenario in my head goes that the player has just achieved a game over, and they could be taken to a screen after the game over that has information they could look through to see what choices affected what. In Aware Stage it could just be an overview of the generations, aside from that I don't know.
And in regards to some other questions that went unanswered.
1. Energy Weapons: will they fire bolts or beams, or can that be decided in the TE?
2. Can an Energy Weapon be possibly hooked up to a generator of a sort on a unit to create infinite energy ammo for that unit?
3. Organism Sounds: is Thrive going to be using premade sounds or something else, the Sounds thread I looked in could be out of date for all I know.
4. Organism Eating methods: How is Thrive going to determine what a creature does to eat, like with T. Rex, its railroad spike-like teeth were used for ripping and tearing chunks of meat off, but other dinosaurs had blade-like teeth that allowed them to slice meat off, is Thrive going to take this into account?

| I still want to know about movement animations. Not everything moves the same. Kangaroos walk on four legs and run on two. (Their hips are conjoined, they can hardly move one leg in any direction from the other.) It's just something I think we should consider. | |

I think that will be decided in TE. 2.As long as generator has a source of energy to create ammo. However that probaly wont be infinite just extremely long. 3.As far as i know, sounds will be first premade and then procedurally generated using the premade ones (Not sure) 4.I don't know about that one.

| I would just like to put out there that I believe we should focus on this game being as fun as possible. It would such a shame if most people who picked up the game played for a little bit, found the realistic simulation neat, and set it aside indefinitely.
I believe the fun would come from the player learning new things about the game as he or she continues to play it.
I feel like we are headed in this direction already, since the gameplay dramatically changes as we advance through the stages. However, to keep the game fun, adding extra elements to the game such as natural disasters should be viewed favorably not because it adds realism, but because it gives new type of events that the player can encounter and new types of strategies. The realism is an extra bonus.
I would like to know if I am alone in this thinking, or if others agree with my sentiment.

| Hey, I just found this after years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYahlm5ag40 It's an awesome documentary about life on an alien planet which is orbiting a red dwarf. Just as a little source of inspiration ;)
BTW those creatures look really interesting and I'm wondering if they could be made in Thrive?

I would like to know if I am alone in this thinking, or if others agree with my sentiment. No, I agree, that is an important goal. That's the reasoning behind the agent system, which is mostly just to add in a semi-scientific fun element to the microbe stage.

| I should really just stop bringing it up, but not everyone is going to like their creature moving the exact same was as any other creature. I'm just stating something that I think will be a problem, but it's just my own opinion. I may be the only one who's thinking about it. XD
Anyway, let's get this thing done, we're building up steam, let's not lose it now.

| Just last week, I actually had to delete the thread of and ban the account of the first spambot I've ever seen on Thrive. I brushed it off because I thought it was a rare occurence, but just a minute ago there was another one. That makes 2 in two weeks, after over a year of never seeing one. Does anyone know why such an occurrence would happen, and what precautions we could take against spambots? | |

Well, Wikipedia suggests asking email validation, but since the bot made a thread and account, I bet it passed that. The other thing was a security question, the bot is unlikely able to answer that. Project Honey Pot also houses strategies to keep spambots out, Turnstep also has strategies to defend against them.

| Well, another forum (A community for a famous youtuber) has just been having admins and moderators running to and fro ('slaying the bally cads with smiting justice' as they put it) However, some of the users have been trying to get a little Spam Patrol force going there. Just a number of people who'd been on there a while and could be deemed trustworthy. But it of course was a no go because the moderators don't know WHO to trust, because they'd be given the power to delete or edit posts and close accounts at their leisure. Damage that can't be undone.
I can only say keep your eyes peeled. If Thrive is going to be besieged, have fun in your battles.

| I believe that reintroducing the restriction on new users posting links or creating new threads would help, because thats the only thing I can think of that has changed recently to have caused the influx of spambots, and without it the spambots couldn't have done anything. | |
