| Hello there. I've been searching around for some Spore mods for aquatic stage and apparently I've found something better. After reading about the game and playing the latest released version I've decided to write an application.
I know C# and Java (in the past, also C++, but I abandoned it as my programming is almost always something in Unity3D <and Unity uses C#>, however it shouldn't be hard to use it again). I have developed few games in Unity as well as read source code of every production that I could get (to see different approaches to specified problem). Moreover I am familiar with Blender so if there is some texturing to do, or simple models, like tools, vehicles, etc., (I'm not the best with people and animals), I can take it. I can also help with "scientific" stuff as long as it doesn't require Master Degree or something like that (well, I know how to use quaternions, or hamiltonians, but Dirac equation or tensors are still beyond my capabilities ;p ). I also know 2 youtubers (added amount of subs: ~210k) who owe me a favor, so later on it would be possible to ask them for some advertising.
I'm definitely going to have much free time (somehow soon), as I'll be taking a gap year before studies in order to re-apply for Cambridge University (my recent application got 2 points less than required. Suffering much, dyuh), so I'd like to take a part in bigger project to fill my timetable. Thrive looks like something proper, as games like this (aka Spore and wasted childhood <3 ) are one of my favourite and it feels like a great opportunity to polish my skills, so... Yeah.
To sum up: - programming skills in C# and Java, potentially C++ (after reminding overall rules) - some experience in game developing (around 10 minigames) - texturing and modeling in blender - scientific and mathematical stuff - too much free time after April - can join programing/graphics/marketing team (preferably programming)
That's all from me. Greetings, Cal
Ps.: Forgive me my messy english, sometimes idioms from my native language overcome knowledge from school

| Welcome!
That's a pretty impressive application - an experienced programmer with knowledge of Blender is perhaps our most pressing need right now. Unfortunately our two main programmers Moopli and Crovea are a little lacking in free time at the moment, but when they turn up I'm sure they'll help you get up to speed with setting up the development environment and whatever else it is programmers do.

| Hot diggitty Belgium! We definitely need more programmers who want to dive right into the ugly everything. Accepted. On to preliminaries: What OS do you want to develop on? If Windows, you can either:
- Clone the repo, and use whatever windows build instructions we have (I believe they're quite good, but I develop on ubuntu so I have no expertise)
- Get a copy of the build directory with all the dependencies pre-installed (easier but you learn less), probably from crovea, unless I find the link to the download
If Ubuntu (or another unix, standard caveats about apt-get vs yum vs homebrew etc apply), you can use the build script that i made some time ago, which I may have to find the newest version of (yeah, stupidly enough, I didn't put it on the repo. I should do that). So, lemme know what OS, and sit tight for a few minutes. Edit: Sweet, you're still online!

| Just went back into my working-room (is it even a word in english?) with a cup of tea and, after refreshing the site, anwers appeared. Uprightly.
I can use both, Windows and Ubuntu (preferably Windows, my laptop with Ubuntu is currently rendering a simple simulation of early universe for local uni open days. Remaining time ~10-20 days, so it would slow me "a bit").
EDIT: Indeed, I am ;p | |

| Just a bit, eh? Well, first off, install ubuntu on your windows box.

| E-mail sent, downloading from link as I'd like to avoid installing Ubuntu on this laptop. | |

| Welcome to Thrive Calandiel!
We'd be very glad to have you join the project (especially considering your impressive game development repertoire). moopli and crovea should be able to guide you through programming, but for any other questions you may have you can always shoot me a PM.
