I'm here because Spore wasn't enough and everything else is too complicated and/or slow. To be honest my only interest is space exploration and galactic conquest in singleplayer mode so if anyone happens to know a good title that isn't too complicated and or slow...

Anyhow, I hope to share my thoughts if it means some awesome game gets to be played.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Games to date...

Spore
-Space Exploration: 10/10
-Galactic Conquest: 10/10
-Ease of Gameplay: 5/10
-Pace of Gameplay: 10/10
-Cheats Available: 10/10
-Quality Mods: 3/10
-Replay Value: 2/10
-Notes: I'm in a serious love/hate relationship with this game. While I love the space stage there are significant bugs, lack of replay value, and overly simplistic in a lot of the tasks the player has to perform. The game itself had an underlying feeling like the creators of the game decided to do what was easiest for them instead of what would improve the game for the player. I have a million and one ideas on how to vastly improve this game to make it epic, unfortunately the skrillz necessary to make mods to improve it are something I have not.

Endless Space
-Space Exploration: 3/10
-Galactic Conquest: 7/10
-Ease of Gameplay: 1/10
-Pace of Gameplay: 1/10
-Quality Mods: 0/10
-Replay Value: 0/10
-Notes: I tried this game based on what others said, I knew it was a TBS when I got it so I was prepared to have to do things in turn, which would have it's advantages if you get pulled away a lot from the game. I think I expected far too much to come from this game because of having played Spore to the point of disk replacement. This is like a more complicated version of Risk, but I have to give props on the excellent solar system layout (although I hated how much everything spun about as I was trying to make selections. I have to say it was far too complicated for me to play.

You could try Eve Online, might not be what you're looking for, but I always wanted to play it.

Anyway welcome to Thrive, have a look in the space section to lay down your ideas. Its also one of the stages I'm most looking forward to.

I can personally recommend Eve Online, I haven't been on in a while but the time I have spent there was fun.

Welcome to the Thrive forum and I hope you have fun.

Eve is a difficult mmo, it takes months before you can actually be competitive. I've never been one for multiplayers, or for high difficulty level. Portal gave me hives the difficulty stressed me out too much and I've always been that noob that gets owned half a dozen times in PVP before logging out never to return.

I enjoy easy but entertaining games, the Bethesda made Fallouts and Elderscrolls are some of my favorites besides Spore. What I really hope for Thrive is that it will share the one thing these games have in common, the open ended sandbox feel which makes the game feel more realistic in my opinion and in the end much more enjoyable. After all nobody really enjoys being told what to do and how to play.

Well, I was on the lower end of things in Eve so things were less complicated for me.

Anyhow, the open-ended sandbox is the vibe I've gotten during my admittedly short time here, so I believe you will be happy here.

Plus I've enjoyed playing the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games too, only got one Fallout (3) but that's just semantics.

Fallout 3 was indeed a great one, New Vegas has mixed reviews but I adore it, love "The Sink". I'm still sitting on crossed fingers hoping for Fallout 4 to debut soon. I really only play Elder Scrolls now when I'm done with the Fallout games lol.

From all the reading I've done so far I've been getting the feel that it's meant to be a be just as I attempted to describe, otherwise known to me as the better version of spore. Spore being in a category all it's own and something I'm very much addicted to. A million and one improvements I've had boiling in my brain since I first played Spore whenever it was released...
