| I spoke to the individual running the facebook page and would love to be a part of the music team. I write and record all of the time and much of what I right is dreamlike and very peaceful. I think a lot of it would be perfect fitting for a game like this and they could match perfectly together. I'd love to be part of this team in helping create something grand.

This is a track I did a while back, but I think it could fit a very early-stage of evolution development scene.
Music wise, I can crank out many tracks and as many ever needed that will help; mostly any genre, any length, and any ideas you the production team may have overall. I'd love to be as engaged in this project as completely possible.

| If I can receive a confirmation for a go, I will start writing and recording tons of tracks for this project and post them regularly. Ready to accept ideas and begin right away! | |

| I'd like to introduce myself. I am Corey Philpot and would like to be a part of the music composition team. I'm really excited to take part in such a project due to its nature. There is nothing more beautiful than the universe in which we are a part of and inhabit. I would love to offer my hand in and create the best tracks that I can for the project and I will try to put out as many tracks as I can. I attended film school and also scored many short films.
Music is an integral part of my soul. I will dedicate a lot of time into this project and do my part.
I'm excited to work with any and all of you. Thank you for the opportunity. Let's create a masterpiece shall we?

| Welcome! :D
Sorry I haven't replied until now - as the Music Team Co-Lead, I'm the person to speak to for matters concerning music (as well as Doggit, the Music Team Lead, although he's not been around much recently). I've just listened to the themes you posted on the other thread, and I have to say, your composition style is definitely suitable for Thrive. For the most part, I'm pretty terrible at completely ambient music, and from what I can tell, you're very good at it. However, there is one thing I'd like to point out about your themes - both feel a little too busy, mostly in the lower registers. The crunch/electric guitar in the first one feels slightly out of place (I'd suggest replacing it with a high reverb synthesizer or something similar) and the low crunches in the second make it, in my opinion, too distracting to fit an ambient theme.
However, apart from that, they're both excellent. I'm sure you'll be a great addition to the music team.

| Thank you for the feedback good sir! And thank you so much for the warm welcome. I listened to quite a few tracks you've posted as well and want to say I love your work.
I'll do some tinkering with the first track and put a synth low tone covered in reverb under it. I'll have a second version up of it soon with the replacement and other changes and see what you think. The second track is one of my older tracks from a couple years back that I had done. Since then, after a hard drive crash, I'm not able to pull up its original files to do any work to it. If you indeed enjoy that track I can try a rework starting from scratch, or I can take the idea and make another completely as well.
One of my favorite things to do is add lots of layers and build a lot on tracks. So I'm completely happy with this info so that I can keep it much more simple and build on a single or couple layers own self.
Also I'd like to ask, what style of music would you be looking for as a total? Like in terms of all genres and all scenarios, is there a list of that? Such as mood, scene, etc.
On a last side note, if you'd like to go through any of my songs here is a link to my soundcloud. Most have lyrics, but the older tracks are instrumentals. The reason I want to link you is to see if there's any certain sound you may like out of them that you'd like pulled from or an idea from to expand in another direction.

Thanks again bud for the feedback!

| One more quick question, where is the best place to keep posting tracks? Cause I will maintain a steady pace coming of new tracks and revisions for approvals. | |

| Welcome to the team cphilpot153! That was a good sample piece of music, and it's great to see you are very enthusiastic about joining. If that piece was a bit longer, I think it would be very good as ambient music for the early stages. There might be a thread up by tomorrow for finalizing a list of themes we need for the game, but until we get such a thread there is nothing really in particular that is required, and you can compose what you want based on any stage. Otherwise, use this thread for posting new themes. | |

It's no problem if you can't get the track back, but it wouldn't hurt to try to recreate it. - cphilpot153 wrote:

The music will mainly be split between two styles - ambient and melodic. Examples of current ambient themes so far include those for the microbe stage, while melodic can be broken down further into fast-based battle or chase music or stage themes based on a specific hook or chord sequence (such as spacecraft launch or industrial themes). Basically, pretty much any genre providing it doesn't distract from gameplay when not supposed to and works within the scenario chosen for it. Other than that, I can't really give you much more guidance, as the many stages and scenarios present in Thrive will mean a large variety of musical styles and genres. - NickTheNick wrote:

I'll get that up now. Hopefully it should serve as somewhere composers can get a feel for what each stage's music should and programmers can get the audio files to add to the code.
