| Well...
I would like to join this forum-y thing, and while I am a novice when it comes to scripting, I am particularly able with the science related parts of this game and find offworld biochemistry, metallurgy and biome concepts very interesting and I am prettey good with drawing and could do concept art.
I'll leave it to you

A novice scripter you say :D? Do the following and you'll be on the team:
- Learn Lua.
That's all there is to it. If you can't find the time to learn Lua, then you won't have the time to be a useful team member; because making yourself useful with science knowledge and art skills alone will take much, much harder work, and for less recognition too cuz we really really want programmers. If, however, you're interested, Lua is a very easy scripting language to learn, and you do not need to become an expert in it. In fact, if you can already read and understand code like this: - Code:
-
Organelle.mpCosts["vacuole"] = 15
function OrganelleFactory.make_vacuole(data) local vacuole = StorageOrganelle(100.0) vacuole:addHex(0, 0) vacuole:setColour(ColourValue(1, 1, 0, 1)) return vacuole end Then you already have enough scripting knowledge that we can get started with introducing you to the code.

Well I was going to suggest I just work very hard with Science/Art skills As I'm seeing some slightly odd conclusions arise, (too many "platypodes" and such), However...
Organelle.mpCosts["vacuole"] = 15
function OrganelleFactory.make_vacuole(data) local vacuole = StorageOrganelle(100.0) vacuole:addHex(0, 0) vacuole:setColour(ColourValue(1, 1, 0, 1)) return vacuole end"
...makes more or less perfect sense (except maybe addHex)
Well thank you for your attention anyway and Ill also spend some time learning lua

| Hrm, sorry for putting it like that, I see a lot of applications that apologise for not being a coder, but being able to give ideas, and I immediately get doubtful. It's hard for us to distinguish between useful ideas people and useless (and downright counterproductive) ideas people; and I guess the central dev team (not to dsicount my own involvement, though; it's partly my fault) has become less trusting over time. So, sorry for discounting your science and art skills; I simply have nothing but your word so far really. If you have any ideas on how to give us a fuller picture of your skills, go ahead. You've hinted at a solution however: - Alyrasi wrote:

I'm interested in what you have to say, care to elaborate? You see some incorrectness going on, you want in on the team to fix that; I'm guessing? Anyway, it just hit me that I'm kinda making you jump through hoops; whereas someone who says they have 3 years C++ experience or something gets waved right in. That's something we could improve, probably by somehow gauging their coding chops. And that takes us to gauging your coding chops. But since by doing that I started off on the wrong foot, I'll stop. Wanna stick to talking about what your science/art skills could add to the team?
