| There are most likely hundreds of creators in Spore who would think that Thrive is a great idea, and that It'll be a great game. They might even quit Spore to play Thrive when it comes out. But the problem is, very few of them have a chance of seeing Poisson's ad in the Sporum. And not just for the Sporum. There must be a way for us to advertise on any forum. We need a way to advertise Thrive in a way it'll be widely noticed. Luckily, I have an idea. An obvious one, but a helpful one nonetheless. We need MiniSigs. MiniSigs are, for anybody who doesn't already know, miniature signatures which advertise threads. Anybody is welcome to make some for this cause, and they should be relatively square. Here is an example: The MiniSigs, as you can see from the example, are small have the logo or a concept on them, and attract your attention. Here are some more, along with the code for you to copy them into signatures in any forum. By Pezzalis: - Code:

Unrelated: You can't only make Thrive for the PC!!!! Tons of people like me will be unable to play, probably cutting the player count off by half!!! Make a Mac version!!! In what section can I talk about this?

| Look, we really just don't have the time or resources to program this for a mac. People who buy macs usually do so well knowing that they will be cut off from a lot of software. Also, good work. | |

| Spore is a dying place by now and most Spore people know about Thrive by now (they just don't care). Caring more for ModDB/IndieDB would be a better choice, it wasn't updated in a while.
Also, if we are going with C++, Lua and OpenGL, it shouldn't be that hard to convert the game later.

| I don't use the Sporum very much, or really any other forum, so I couldn't really advertise... Couldn't we just use current concept art, made smaller? Or even the logo?
I have a Mac too, it's annoying we can't have a Mac version, but I have a virtual PC for situations like this, so I should be okay. Apart from that, there's really no way to use windows software without getting a PC. Maybe eventually we'll have a mac version, but it's unlikely unless we start paying people.
EDIT: Commander Keen brings hope! We might not have to pay anyone!

I don't think so... But I haven't been there. - Commander Keen wrote:

Also, if we are going with C++, Lua and OpenGL, it shouldn't be that hard to convert the game later. I'm not so sure very many people actually know... They all quit Spore because of the bugs Maxis was too lazy to fix. You guys will probably fix the bugs in Thrive. People will probably care. I think it's just that they don't know. Yay! Hope for the Mac! - The Uteen wrote:

EDIT: Commander Keen brings hope! We might not have to pay anyone! Basically, that's what people would be doing. But they would make them more improved, with designs and borders on the concept art too. Not the hand drawn concept art, though. The planet ones. Like the ones Pezz made. I don't know how to use any image editing sites so other people will need to. Like Pezz. Is it that BootCamp thingy that got you your virtual PC? Because I'm trying to get that installed. Or whatever you do with it...

| If you have a mac, you can always just run on a Linux OS, Thrive should run on that. | |

I use parallels, a virtual machine is an operating system file loaded by an application on your computer. It works pretty much the same as a normal computer, except you have to boot up the mac first. But enough on that, back to concept art minisigs. Where are we going to advertise, if the Sporum is dead? It should probably be a forum for a recent evolution game (not that there are many, if any), a space game, a simulation game, you get the idea. Other games that have elements of what will be in Thrive. Does anyone use any other forums for discussion of these kind of games? And another thing: If we advertise on a space game's forum, we should use a space concept, if we advertise on an evolution/simulation game, we should have a planet/organism concept, and so on. In other, more complicated words, the image we use should be relevant to the forum-users' interests. We might even be able to stretch over to RTS games; we have got that element to Thrive, we just need to emphasise it.

Use the sig banner on any forum too, not just the sporum Hai. I see you weren't killed by that second earthquake in NZ then? Everyone in the UCRT was scared... Yeah, I'll change the OP to include all forums. Wanna post some minisigs? After all, the example is yours...

Yeah, I'll change the OP to include all forums.
Wanna post some minisigs? After all, the example is yours... If I get time... Which simultaneously I have little and a lot of (Community relief, shoveling liquefaction, cleaning up but no school for ages). Haven't been on because I've had no power for the last week. Yeah the earthquake was.... substantial. Frightening stuff, luckily house and family and direct friends are ok. Thanks for the concern!

| I regularly go to a very large forum, Im not even sure how many members are on it as the member list caps at 100. Definitely over 100k users though.
That's a lot of users, but there is a problem. Its a warez forum.
I can have a sig there, but It would be best if it was a long bar kind.

| Pezzalis left Spore and therefore I'm pretty sure he doesn't have time for the computer at all, so for some reason he deleted his Thrive pics... So now this thread has no pictures. | |

How do I get the numbers out of the bottom though?

| I can work on converting the game to Mac, if the API will be OpenGL and not DirectX. For people who do not know, directX is a windows only API, OpenGL is for Linux WIndows and Mac. | |

Good, but how is this relevant to the thread?

Good, but how is this relevant to the thread? It's relevant because I complained about that at the bottom of the OP.
