| How will this be done? Model swapping? How does Spore do it? | |

| Art-wise or programming-wise, AI? Art wise, it shouldn't be too hard to get a galaxy. It's basically wallpaper until you get close to it. Spore did it by having a star map - you picked your star, then zoomed off to the system, where you picked the planets. On a programming level, it would be best to raise the question in programming.
Completely off-topic, it would be nice to name the planets/systems we discover, or be able to tag them so we can find them again easily.

| The one in spore was done perfectly well, im talking in co-operative with art and programming. Loading the models should be fairly easy, programming wise, what im talking about is the blending and (maybe) extremely well done model-swapping Spore did. When you zoomed out of the galaxy on Spore, all the stars blendered into a cluster, creating a semi-realistic lightning effect of the entire galaxy, whilst when you zoomed in, the lights became weaker and you could see more detail of the stars instead of a blending light. How is this going to be accomplished? I have somewhat of a idea, programming wise, but how is this going to merge with the 3d-models? | |

| If we're talking about a galaxy of hundreds of millions to billions of stars, then if a part of the galaxy is looked at from far away, it could be converted to voxels which have opacity determined by the number of stars they contain. Voxel grid resolution determined by distance. | |

| I think we should be able to choose the type of galaxy. In Spore the only option is a spiral, but maybe in thrive we should have a spiral, irregular, and elliptical. But I think the basic idea spore had of going solar system to solar system was good though. I think that planetary invasion with soldiers should be a ability as well, instead of just shooting lasers down at citizens. Maybe also more then one ship, like, control of a fleet. Just suggestions. | |

| All good ideas, but already accounted for. Except for the system to system, I think we will simulate the space in between. | |

| I got that idea when I saw spore xD Cool idea I must admit but let's go one step farther... Editing the galaxys with a paintbrush and determining the Star Population (How many stars are in a galaxy xD) like a Brush for the seize of the brush and a circle for determening the star density inside the cloud of gas :3 | |

| That might be useful, beacuse nobody would want to do everyithing manualy. | |

| It would be fairly hard for the programmers to program for all of the stars you want. Maybe options, like low density, moderate density, and high density. I'm not sure what you mean by paintbrush, but if you want to decide the color of the stars that would have a profound impact on the planet and the life on the planet. (ie: a blue star would make the habitable planets much farther away than a, for instance, yellow star and would cause more radiation). Also, NicktheNick, if we were to simulate all of the space, it would be very hard to find planets which would look almost invisible next to the stars. | |

| energyknife Space stage will play RTS style so we will have extra ships and soldiers. | |

Yes that is one of the problems to face.
