Jokes 'n Empire-related Dialogue

Is this game gonna be all serious? I hope not. I would like funny dialogue or something from,for example,space-races. If it isn't gonna be alot of trouble,you can make different dialogue for different kind of empires,like a war-addicted (lol?) empire gives you a mission:

''Give us cake!!''
Awnser: No.

'WE SHAL DESTROY YOUUUUU! And keep the cake ofcourse.''

Idk.

A friendly empire:

''Can you give us some cake please?''
Awnser: No.

''How very unkind of you''
Optional: (if already angered the empire somewhat): ''Thats unkind of you. You may want to give it to us now before we annihilate your species from the galaxy and dance on your grave.''

Summary: Is it possible that different Empires have different dialogue,like angry empires,religious empires and exploring empires?

You mean personality difference for each Empire? Of course every specie will act different to you, but it won't be as childish as Spor I hope. Something a lot more serious I would enjoy.

Agreed. I don't think we should try to cater to any specific humor with the game, because it is a serious game.

Definetly keep it serious I hated Empire Earth 3, and Spore (when I got over the lack of realism) was really hard to role-play.

Something spore did right: make references to sci-fi of the ages.
Something spore did wrong: did it very heavy-handedly. No spice here, please. (Especially as I'm not certain the Spore dev team read or watched Dune in the first place...)

I think that people will be able to find plenty of humor once we get the online sharing going. And funny credits or instructions can work too.

I didn't really mean for Spore-like funny dialogue,but I meant,like,references to movies/tv/books etc. Without being really obvious,the people that know the reference are likely going to enjoy them. Maybe put a few in the achievements?

BTW,how are we going to measure the ''friendliness'' of the empires? I was thinking of the Spore-like system (forgive me for that) with all the numbers,but invisible. You won't see all the numbers,but the PC keeps track. The empire you are talking to WILL mention the good/bad thing you did,if he already didn't.

Wow,that was vague. Nevermind really,my ideas suck.

We do have a few old plans for references, but we aren't going for a bunch. Achievements are one thing which, pending, would be our main way of including jokes.

No, it was about 'keeping the game interesting' after the player had completed it, where we basically came up with easter eggs for the game.

But back to in-game humor.

It will be quite difficult when we don't actually have a fixed storyline or text of any sort. Achievements are already full of references, they don't really need any more. Then there is the tutorial...
