| Hi there,
I joined the forum recently and one of my dreams would come through if I could actually be a part of this. After about 3 days I already learned a lot more about the project. I'm from the Netherlands and my english isn't perfectly good. I would like to help in the tech editor, so right now I'm think about how it would work. I have about 1 year experience in level designing and I'm a beginner in C#.
Thats basically me (at least the part that you are allowed to know )

| Thanks for introducing yourself. As you've already figured out, I'm in charge, co-leading with US of Alaska. | |

I got one question, whats with Belgium around here? Belgium is the (rubbish) swearing filter. It's a reference to... A book, I think. And I think quite a few people are actually typing in Belgium, but it's hard to tell... I like to think it's becoming a meme. But anyway, hello, and welcome! If you've read any of the other welcome threads then you'll know you have to check out the Thrive Wiki, and probably have done already. I really don't see why we don't have a global sticky to say read the wiki with a link... It's so repetitive. And I'm the Sandbox team lead. Like it says by my name. And I give ideas. Yup.

| Belgium exists because scio is a fan of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books. And doesn't have the patience to enter variations of common swearwords such as cr@p into the filter database. We're more or less running on the assumption that, if you're too young to have heard it before, you should probably not be cruising the web without your parental units.
Hi, Gario! I know we find C++ useful around here, but unfortunately my knowlege of programming can be fit in a toothpaste cap and drop-kicked down the road. Get in contact with the programming people... over in the procedurals threads. Roadkill and AI are around a lot, they'll probably fill you in as to where everyone is with the belgiumload of mathematics that have been dumped on them recently, mostly by me and Scio.
Tenebrarum is our general repository for the TE ideas, I'm thinking that they'll be back around soon. As it is, we've got plenty of people sitting around there waiting for us to finish the giant biome mess.
English not your first language? Is Dutch, then? Click the link in my sig, regardless of what you speak, the teams we've got now could use a hand. We're translating the wiki, one letter at a time...

| Hi, Gario! While the game itself will be in C++ and Lua, any programming knowledge might be very useful to us! - Quote :

| C# - easier to learn, not good at cross platform-ing, requires .NET 4.0 or Mono libraries to run
C++ - harder to learn and use (IMO), more powerful, supports all major platforms

| I don't think it's very hard to switch. I'll just follow some online lessons and see if I can do it. Hope I can help with the game someday!

| Heya and welcome, gario! People seem to have directed you in the right direction. I suppose you should talk to scio and then the programming team to figure out if there's anything you can do to help. | |

| I don't know if you guys know Unity3d? It's an game-making program. I worked with it some time ago and I'm still part of the forums. Maybe I could gather some experienced scripters or 3d-artists that want to help (for free ofcourse). Don't know if it is an good idea but just say what you think.
(Also, sorry for maybe being annoying as new guy)

| Do you think this will attract people? If you want me to change anything, I will change it =D Hello everyone, Before anything else What is Thrive? Maybe you know Spore, a game about evolution. Thrive is something like Spore, but then not as childish and cartoonish. It is based on real evolution and science, unlike Spore. Our goals are simplicity, science and playability. We try to make it a fun and realistic game. The goal of the game is to evolve a creature through various stages of life. You start of as a microbe, but soon you start to evolve and become multicellular, and so on. Through evolving your creature gets more advanced and is capable of surviving in your world. Eventually your will achieve sentience and build up an society, which in the end will lead to space. This is basically what Thrive is. What you can do. Do you think this will do? Thrive is only going to be build by volunteers. You won't get paid but its an unique experience, and we really could use some help. This is what we search: -Experienced scripters that now C++ and/or Lua -People with good ideas You can take a look on our site: https://thrivegame.canadaboard.net/forumHere you can look at some topics and other ideas for Thrive. If you want to help, make an account on the website and then go to https://thrivegame.canadaboard.net/f27-welcome, create a thread (by clicking the 'new' button right of the search function) and describe yourself and what you can do, you will be send to the right place. We have a good sense of humor and there is something with Belgium which I didn't figure out yet. We look forward to your help. =D | |

| I've seen unity before, I didn't think it was powerful enough to build this. | |
