Fix the theme, pretty please

Is this how the forum is supposed to look like:

This is just horrible, i'm sorry, but it is... It took me about 5 minutes more to found out how to post this, because everything blends into a big mess of colours. Why is some of the text in the same colour as the top background ? And i think the black text on top of the blue background is a little blue too, makes no sense. Can at least i personally change the theme, because this theme is unviewable... I'd prefer everything to be black and the text to be simple white, instead of this. If i set my resolution to a non wide screen, it looks a little better, i did that to try to understand why you like this theme, but tbh i still thought it looks horrible. And on top of all the blue advertise in the middle makes it all look even worse. I know thats not your fault(or is it?) but its still annoying.

Also, why did you remove all the borders, now everything looks like its randomly floating on the page, has no visible structure at all. And perhaps make everything a bit more darker.

And bring back the logo at the top of the forum, it was helpful as a link to the home page of the forum. I can use other links, but that one was easiest.

I seriously think this needs a lot of fixing, when i first saw it, i thought you were in the procces of make a theme, because it looked bad and unfinished... But you never made it better.

P.S.: Where did that creature on the background came from? I like it.

I don't really see what's so wrong with the theme, except the tiling of course. The blue text does blend with the top a bit, but it's pretty much impossible to make a text color that looks nice both on light and dark background.

The background is the property of Scio.

The green/yellow text should be not green/yelllow, thats the text that blends in. And there is nothing impossible, if its bad, then the whole background needs to change. The purpose of a theme is to make it look nice and readable, right now i can't say its so readable.

The main problem is that everything is floating and has no structure and doesn't look organised.
If you can just make all tables have a transparent background, maybe white/black/dark blue, dunno for sure, it will look organised again.

Well, that's a matter of opinion. I personally like it very much.

Well, I'm always open to some criticism here. I understand your complaints. Yes, I realized that there might be a tiling issue with the main pic because it's made for a 4:3 aspect ratio, not 16:9. I'll see if i can come up with an expanded background, it shouldn't be too difficult.

I'll keep playing with text colors and the like to see what works best. However, as keen said, most people really like the new theme, better than the old one, so I'm going to try to minimalize changes like post backgrounds. Most people are liking the more open feel.

Yes, I did make the background. there's many versions of it, and it can be pretty easily modified. What's your screen resolution? If you tell me that, I can get on to making a different version that will fit everyone's screen.

Oh and the top logo is still a link.

I think the problem is the contrast between the top of the background and the bottom of the background. Maybe if you could make the top a little darker or the rest of the water a bit brighter? Just experiment, but if it looks okay it'd allow us to just use black or white for everything. And Scio, i think Darkov was asking more for the ability to change just his theme. Do we have an option for that?

I navigate by memory and 20/20 vision. Not that that's helpful to anyone else, but I agree that at the very least, a change from the pale blue/pale green is in order. Perhaps a dark yellowish green (which I dont see being eaten as much due to the up-top contrast,) and some sort of navy blue/indigo?

I really didn't have a place to put it. I mean, this was open ocean, and that was a swamp creature.
However, I'll probably be making more concept art for other places in the game.

I have to say with a 1024x600 laptop screen, this is fairly difficult to read.

I liked the old better.

How the... wow you've got high resolution there. Even the old bg would have tiled on that- it was only 1600 pixels wide.

No. I lowered my resolution to 1024 x 820 and it wasn't centered, just blurry, and the Thrive logo was very off-center. Ruins the effect a bit.

The image is 1280 x 1064. My monitor is 1280 x 1024. With the addition of my browser's toolbars at the top, and the  bar, the RG logo is neatly chopped off the bottom (poor RG), so I don't get a problem.

But it needs fixing... For the general community. Either that or we need to get them new monitors, which wont happen. (Sorry! We don't do monitor deliveries... )

On some other forums I have been on, there has been an ability under preferences to change the theme of the forum. Is it possible, with whoever is hosting this, to be able to allow members to change the theme back to the old one or to the new one, or once newer ones come, change it to them?
