If you can evolve an underwater sentient species could you still leave your planet?
(I know there are SO many spelling errors in that one question )

I think it's possible, but difficult... It would be easier for an amphibian, because access to fire is required. For a purely aquatic species, some help from a species with the technology would be the only practical way.
The main problem for a pure aquatic species is that they need fire, which is only available on land. To get to land and get fire, first they would need transport (unless they are a crab or something with legs), then they would need a supply of water with a enough oxygen in, and enough of it to last many minutes. That means a very big tank. Water can't be compressed like air, so a very big amount relative to the size of the creature would be needed, so something like a vehicle would be needed for each one. And the water container would have to be water-tight. It would be difficult to make something like that without being able to craft metal with fire.
That's the main hurdle. Once they have a water-tight vehicle that can, with the equipment to make more, land can be explored and stuff can be made. It would still be difficult, but without all their technology being alien, that's the only way.

I think we had this topic before...
But i think it is almost impossibe but underwater animals COULD just melt metal with help from volcanic activity. (I forgot what they are called in english) _________ are very hot and have alot of life around them, so if a species could dive deep enough to get to a ________ they could use it to shape metal. Or instead of using fire to form metal just use brute force.....

This discussion actually hearkens back to the old old forums. There we determined that, since animals cannot practice metallurgy underwater, because of the lack of an adequate heat source (underwater volcanic vents are not hot enough) and the fact that metals would quickly form oxides. This means that the chances of them getting out of the water are low, and the chances of them going to space are near zero.
So the answer to your question is, unfortunately, no.

Since it hasn't been discussed on this forum, it's probably best to leave this here so people know it already has been.
