| Well here I am. My name is Matheus Filipe, I am brazilian living in a small town near Rio de Janeiro. I think I'm going to start by how did i find this project, the same way i found spore I think: Luck and Youtube.
Yesterday a friend of mine bought a new computer, he wanted to install spore. Well I am going to lend him tomorrow, but childhood hit me and I installed in my computer, I searched some trailers to give my friend some idea of what he was going to play. I searched for the oldest trailer, the one with the Willosaur and aguatic stage, then I realized again: "Spore could be so much better, I had so many ideas that I could add to spore..." then i readed the comments. One single comment saying something about a project named Thrive.
I searched and here I am. I have some technical skill in 3DStudio I don't exercice it in a long time, I have a mind full of ideas, I think all the time about new gamming mechanics, story, lore, already existing lore-plotholes and theories ( recently Mass Effect 3 final and the indocrination theory).
My "downgrade" would be no knowlegde of code or animation, my minimal lack of proper english grammar. But the first part will get fixed in 2 years when i get to college.
I am a little lost, this forum is a bit chaotic for me so I am going to take my time and by saturday I think i will handle the explosion of information just fine.

| First!
Cool name, Matheus. Our lovely translation team (link in my sig) is wide open to speakers of portugese. English grammar (or at least expertise in it) is semi optional around here, we've got lots of bilinguals.
Ideas are a lovely thing to have. I fully expect that Alaska and scio will be around here in a bit to welcome you - they run the place, I just tinker in the shed. While you're waiting, there's a Wiki (acessable from somewhere around here) to get you caught up, and my inbox, like that of scio and Alaska, is always open. Especially if you have language questions, I'm the team's overenthusiastic linguistic dabbler. Oh, and I run biomes. They're cool and still applicable, so that's a good place for an ideas man to check out.
/shameless self-promotion.

| Good question. There was a gen chat idea at one point, but we've mostly kept it to the forums where there's a paper trail to follow. It's slightly easier to organize for everybody that way. Keeps new members from being too confused, and keeps all the information handy.
Though, if you're in Brazil, Scio and I are probably pretty close to your timezone, so there's a good chance of catching us with a PM in a timely fashion. I dunno too much about anyone else's timezones. Several people have proposed a general chat at specific times for finishing projects (like the elusive podcast...) but it's never gone anywhere.
Good idea to raise in the marketing thread, actually.

| Welcome!
...I've got a new theory: a single youtube comment on an old Spore video is our greatest advert ever.
