PostSubject: Threekbuck says hello!   Threekbuck says hello! EmptyWed Aug 22, 2012 6:22 am

Hi,

I'm Threekbuck. I'm 18 years old and come from the Netherlands.
I heard about Thrive a couple of months ago through the Spore forum and was very excited about it. I already liked Spore very much, because of the creativity you could bring into it. But sometimes there was a lack of realism. That's why I like Thrive. I don't see Thrive as a replacement of Spore though, because they're just 2 very different games (I think), besides from the shared evolutionary theme.

I've been watching this forum for a while now, and I must say I'm impressed with all the ideas and concepts. The reason I didn't register untill now, is because I was busy with school and had to do exams. Yesterday was my last exam, so now I will have time.
I'm not sure if it matters if I have time or not, because I doubt I can help much. I do know the basics of programming, and with that I mean the very very basics. In school I had a computer subject (not sure if that is correct English) in wich I learned making websites, making games (with Gamemaker ), learned something about Visual Basic and more. But I don't know anything about C++ what I come across pretty often on this forum.
I do hope I can help in some other way. Maybe I can even learn some programming.

Also, might be usefull to mention; I'm not a star in English. I thought I was pretty good at it, but some topics here are quite hard for me to understand, but that could also just be the scientific names I don't know and also wouldn't know in my own language .

To come here without empty hands I tried making a loading screen. I kinda failed, but I will show (parts of) it anyway (on the right topic).
Anyway, I hope you will finish this game some day, because I would love to play it!

Bye!

Welcome!

Some topics are definitely very technical, so don't worry if you don't understand all of it, many of us are in the same situation.
Joining in with discussion is the best way to get started, particularly in areas you are experienced in. Our current goal is just to generally get started in Thrive's creation (from concept to program), and getting ourselves known. Maths/programming would probably be useful for the first, while common sense (no spamming!) is good for the latter.

Glad to see you join the team. Welcome!

Don't worry if you don't know how to program. I don't know and didn't know when I first got here, but I am learning. There is an awesome on video tutorial series Youtube that covers all you need to learn in a very easy to learn manner. I highly recommend that you give it a shot.
