XML What exactly is it and is it useful?

Im sorry if this is in the wrong section first off.

But anyways. Yeah, XML. I found some notes on it I wrote before. Didnt exactly say the purpose of XML though.

XML Is easy and not Complecated.
It is used to display data in an easy and readable manner...
I am not sure for what are we going to use it in the game...

Config files. This way, you don't have to recompile the entire game, just to make one little change.

Sounds useful, As XML Is kind of easy and readable to even noobs.

Well, to be fair you do have to pay attention to formatting and special characters, and understand tags, elements, and such. It's not a coding language, it's a markup language, which means it's used for annotation. Paying attention to format and whatnot just ensures that the computer can read it as well as you can. These forums use phBB which is a markup language itself, but one that's essentially a gateway to the regular HTML that the internet runs on.
