Evolutionary lock Empty
PostSubject: Evolutionary lock   Evolutionary lock EmptyMon Oct 29, 2012 7:42 pm

I want to evolve creature A from a cell. I want to live on a planet that has creature B. Could I put B creature into evo-lock? They wouldn't evolve. Or maybe I can put the whole planet into evolutionary lock, so I could live on my dream planet?

Thoughts?

Interesting idea. I was originally going to suggest that you post a question like this on the Miscellaneous Bugs and Questions Thread, but on second thought I realize there is much more depth to this question. I can imagine it would be very desirable for players to reach a stage in the game where they would want to suspend evolution and change for a certain period of time. However, I think the complexity of the evolutionary model and how deeply tied in auto-evo is with the rest of the game makes it hard to simply turn off/suspend auto-evo without messing with a bunch of the other aspects of the game.

Oh poo. So I won't be able to by my dream species on Suniv Sol, with them surrounded by the native critters... ):

PS: I am writing a book, and coming up with tons of critters who will live on the planet it takes place on, Suniv Sol. I want to be the sentient species there, and have the plants and animals I design be there, but I guess I won't be able to have it exactly... ):

I'm not sure, that was just my thought. Someone more well-versed in the game needs to answer that.

If what you wanted to stop evolution over the entire planet, that will be possible with the current auto-evo system. It will also happen automatically when you achieve civilisation. So you could do what you suggest, but other species wouldn't evolve either.

So what your saying, is I COULD pause a whole planet? Would I still be able to evolve the species I'm being?

As I said - it's the whole planet, so you couldn't evolve through auto-evo. However, there is the option to evolve through limited manual edits, or unlimited (like Spore), so as long as you have the patience to do the evolving yourself, you can still evolve.

Awesome, that will work even better. Suniv Sol, here I come! That is, once the game is done...

It's sad it will be a few years for this to be done... by then I'll be in college, or medschool... maybe I'll even be a professional old doctor by then... ):
