| Greetings comrade! Hopefully you know a lot about the game if you've been reading through our threads. There's a biome list thread that you could make some biomes for if you want to jump right in.

| Yep. Biomes would be a very good place to start. Right now we need deserts and other rather dry areas especially - there are, of course, many types. | |

| Our current policy seems to be if you have no specific skills, throw them into Biome design. Also, if you are bilingual, Cali would like you to click the link in his sig. | |

| Ok, so when you say biome design, do just mean come up with possible ideas for biomes? It seems everything is going to be math based and randomized.
And P.S. Why do you need bilinguals, dosen't google do everything now?

| *Hides in corner* Biomes... just hop on over here and read the OP. And please don't talk to me about google translate. You start with a perfectly good spanish sentence, such as "Gorbachof, quien queria el taco de Calli, no conocia cocinarlo." And end up with "Gorbachof, who wanted the taco de Cali, did not know cooking." This is a literal translation. By the way "de" is "of" and google translate can't even catch it in a sentence like this, which is a relatively simple one. Any spanish-speaking third grader could come up with it. The proper translation is "Gorbachof, who wanted Calli's taco, did not know how to cook it." Conclusion: Google translate is not smarter than a fifth grader. This is, by the way, between two of the most structurally similar languages on earth. (Spanish and English both, technically, being romance languages.) Try something with unfamiliar information and have yourself a party. /and this is why you should take your foreign language, kids. | |

| Ok, my bad, google translate: no good, but you could still use the almighty intranet to translate each word at a time (of cource there is the problem of structure). (and isn't German closer to English?) | |

| Welcome!
I am learning German at school, and I can say it is quite similar to English in sentence structure and even words (at least compared to French). But I still dread it, I can't remember all the vocabulary.
Ich heiße The Uteen, und Ich kann (missing vocabulary) Deutsch nicht. I'd need a dictionary for remember.
In other words, don't put me on the translation team (yet).
Oh, and welcome! This isn't all we talk about.

| I think we have enough german speakers for the present. (Even though my german extends as far as 'Vas es mine hund?' [where is my dog?])
"The english language is the illigitimate love child of the Romance Languages [latin based] and German." - me, lecturing unfortunate fellow freshman orientation member who told me that I'd "never get a job" if I studied Latin and Spanish. Obviously the girl had never heard of translators...
