Back after 2 years.

Hi, it's been a long time since I've been involved in thrive. I remember being completely unhelpful to the team, and quite annoying but after reading through the majority of the dev. forum (and realizing that it was two years ago when any sort of concept of science/programming was totally void in me) I decided I wanted to try and help out.

1st I would like to tell you all that I have found bashi on steam, and he's on it pretty much daily. I did a quick google search on his name and only got four pages of results. All the pages either was a profile of an Australian, witch bashi is, so I'm lead to believe that this is his him:
(oh great, I can't post external links yet. just google Bashinerox, his steam page should be the 5th result on the first page.)
(although he didn't list his nationality on steam, all of his friends are Australian, which leads me to believe they could be bashi's friends or something of the sort, just wanted to point that out for confirmation purposes.)

I just wanted to give that info to you all, I don't know why he left, but if you all want to try and bring him back, then you know where to start.

I'm also trying to work out a system on paper of how we can make the OE modify organisms each time they experience an evolution, I have a basic system worked out for cellular evolution in the works, but I'll post that later when I have it all fleshed out. (I'm also reading up on the tech editor but I'm a bit less focused on that.)

In the long term, I'll just try to help the game develop a bit concept wise, and perhaps see if I can't find a programmer or 2 who would want to help out in there spare time. Thanks for trying to make an awesome game, I want to be here to help out.

Thank you for this information. However, i'm really not sure what to do with it. Approaching someone who left the team without any given reason doesn't seem like something i'd know how to do. I mean, he did do some good work for us for a while, but he sort of just left without any notice. Maybe we should decide whether we even want to ask him back?

Whew, Bashi's been found... Well, this is an awkward situation. I think there's no doubt we'd like him to come back, but just asking him randomly seems... Definitely awkward. I don't know. As long as I don't have to do it, I'm no good with awkward. I have trouble even spelling awkward sometimes, that's how bad I am with it.

Mmmm. We certain that Bashi's not on some sort of sabbatical. (Also, the account current? It would be pretty stupid to go over to steam and pester him, only to find that he's not been logged in there for nigh on a year as well.)

*Waves* I'll introduce myself, as I showed up last october or so. (Wow, a whole year?) I'm Calli, and scio guilt tripped me into joining his pet project promised me cookies for running ecology. (I'm an environmental science major with an emphasis on chemistry and living systems. Good times.) I currently run the mess that we call biomes, as well as the wiki translation team, which our bilingual members poke with a stick when they get the urge. (I kid: really, we're doing well, but everyone's back in school now and excited about cell stage.)

Oh, and if you have the kitchen sink, I'm supposed to do some research on that as well... has anyone seen a stray chemical wandering around? It's probably mine.

Welcome back! I do remember you somewhat; that means you have had quite an impact. I fail to remember what I had for dinner 30 minutes ago, and remembering what was two years ago = darkness, just darkness.

As for Bashi, I think we should leave him be. He had some pretty good thoughts on the concept, but the code.. He updated his code repository once, with some routines, the purpose of wich onlly he knew. PaperGrape left because he failed to get a regular contact with Bashi and couldn't do anything useful because of it. Roadkill has already done more work than him; by the way, where is he? I would want to see the current source of what he has done.

\programmers seem to be a mercurial bunch around here. But we absolutely love them. Oh, and we've finished how evolution will work, although they level you are working on is the hazy part right now (we've determined how we decide what will evolve, but there are protocols for how it will evolve that need to be specifically determined)

Just a heads up, after spending the past couple of months just lurking the forum I've gotten some experience with Wings3d, I don't have much that I can offer but if you guys need any sort of low poly models I could be of some service.
