Hello everyone! I'm Razander. I discovered Thrive from a Youtube comment on a video of a demonstration of SPORE at GDC 2007 2005.

Aside from the underlying concept of Thrive, I'm also interested in the development process itself--I'm familiar with crowd-funded games, but this is the first time I've heard of a crowd-sourced game. Well, "crowd-sourced" doesn't exactly fit. Thrive does have a team hierarchy, so it's more akin to wiki building isn't it?

I don't have any valuable skills (yet!), but I'll happily contribute in any way possible to Thrive's development. Even if it's just word of mouth.

Welcome, Razander!

Even the ability to type helped get us this far, along with enthusiasm, so I'm sure you'll be able to contribute just by joining in with the a few of the on-going discussions. Also, if you're a fluent non-English speaker I'm sure Mysterious Calligrapher will soon be here to ask you to join the translation team. And of course, spreading the word is also a great help.
To get an idea of current (conceptual) progress, check out our Wiki & FAQs, which you can find a link to on the bar to the left, if you haven't already, and if you have some time you could even look through some of the old topics to get an even better idea.

P.S. Who needs TV ads when you can post a YouTube comment? It's super effective!

Did I say 2007? I meant 2005. I can't post external links yet but the video title is "Spore 35min Demonstration from the GDCe (2005)", if that sounds familiar.

Thrive is open-source, but the thing about most open-source games I'm familiar with is that they have a set development team. Thrive, on the other hand, is accepting anyone that can contribute to the project, and doesn't have a set release date.

... Um, I'm currently redoing the languages thread (some translation teams were made almost two years ago...) but the link's in my sig.

What else? I need to pay the person who made that comment in chocolate (we get more people through that than anything else) and I run Biomes. I'm also suposed to be organizing resource economics CC, but I'll get around to that when my brain's not full of the guts of a Mass Spectrometer and chiral musk samples.

Yeah, also I'm team chemist. I have a whole drawer full of hats. That just about covers it.
