PostSubject: Greetings Earthlings! (Somewhat New User)   Greetings Earthlings! (Somewhat New User) EmptyWed Jun 12, 2013 11:25 am

Hello, my name is Secondkingstons *You can shorten it to King, Second, 2nd, etc* and I have been stalking this forum for the past two weeks. I was a very avid fan of Spore, even though I would've preferred the planned concept, I still liked the current game. I thought the entire idea of evolving your very own organism was very cool, and I never really encountered a game which had ever done that before. One day, I re-watched the old trailer of Spore on youtube, what it was planned to look like. I imagined how the game would feel if they didn't change it. I noticed some comments about a project called 'Thrive', and how it was planned to be a 'Spore, but closer to realism'. So, the natural thing to do was to search up what this Thrive business was all about. I discovered an amazing and ambitious project, being created by a community who work hard to overcome obstacles that at first seemed impossible to solve.
Not only a fan of the project (I love the name Thrive by the way) I'm also fan of Science fiction. I have a natural curiosity about the vastness of space, and I often spend entire evenings sketching and writing about what these otherworldly creatures might look, act, and be like. However, I fear that I do not have much to offer for the community, since I know nothing about programming or any of the sorts. However, I do sketch a bit on paper and pencil *and occasionally on GIMP*. I'm also a fan of writing stories about alien creatures and empires. I've already set my own little universe in my imagination, chock-filled with societies and cultures of other worlds. I am still quite young at age, so many of these topics seem a bit confusing, and I may fail to grasp the overall ideas. But hey, doesn't mean I don't know anything!
Overall I'm glad you guys are using your time to help create this game for us. I appreciate all you have done, and all you will do for the future.
Some of my GIMP pictures I found that are either Thrive inspired or just of space. I'm kinda new to GIMP *or drawing with a mouse in general* so my works on the computer aren't as good as the stuff I do on paper.

Welcome, Secondkingstons!

You seem to have discovered Thrive just as I had, by way of Youtube comment. I can see that you really like the idea of this project, and your concepts, while basic, are well on the way to helping with development. (By the way, I too spend an extortionate amount of time writing and sketching things about space and imaginary creatures :) ).

Contact Thriving Cheese and he'll give you some artwork to help with.
