| Hey i wanted to ask will we get some gameplay like the aliens from aliens or maybe a strategy overview of us controling our creature that is kind of like an ant where you control multiple creatures from top-out camera point of view and when you lick on a creture with left click you get the spore 3D type cotrol or something like that.Just asking Sorry for bad grammar | |

Sorry for bad grammar If you are asking if a hive-mind is possible, then I think that is in the plan. Controlling like a strategy game is more in the Awakening Stage where your species has just gained sapience. However I'm not sure how high of a priority hive-minds will be. Otherwise in the Aware Stage you just control a single creature of your species. Hope I answered your question.

Hope I answered your question. I would love to have control over a hive mind species .I wanted to ask also about something like the zerg from starcraft where you got hivemind and multiple types of creatures in you disposal maybe there is a pack of Omegabears atacking my hive so i will breed a buch of acid bombers and bury them in the ground when the bears come i will blow them up.That would be aesome to see in thrive What do you think ?

| Actually, controlling your species from the Strategy Mode when they are not intelligent is not possible. The Strategy Mode is only unlocked during the Awakening Stage's transition into the Society Stage.
However, during Ascension, or in the Sandbox, you can go into Strategy Mode and command any species you want.

| In the proposed 'sandbox mode' will we just be able to dump a bunch of fossil-saved creatures in a world and just watch them all evolve from a god's perspective? Maybe you could trigger differently evolved variants of a species by breaking up landmasses. | |

| Once you have gone through Ascension, do you think it would be possible to create a physical form (that looks like anything you want, from energy, to your original creature or even shapeshift) in a creator to appear to other races? This form could not be harmed and would have very cool abilities, for example, one-shotting an extremely defensive organism. You could manifest in the world or go back to being invisible. | |

| @sporewow: You can do hive mind control through first/third person commanding of your species members during the Aware Stage, and you can also do it in the sandbox mode for any species.
@TheRabiesGuineaPig: Yes you can.
@Scottnov: You cannot manifest in any physical form. Instead you just manipulate everything in a "God-Mode".

| According to Firefox, pop-ups are being prevented sometimes randomly when I browse the site. Sometimes when I look at the URL for these popups, they're pretty malicious sounding, I can't recall any names of the URLs though. Do any of you have ideas on what this could be? | |

I messaged staff about this before Marija commented, he said it was because I am a user and not a developer.

| You know what there might should be? An ETA and planned features for unreleased versions of Thrive. Example: "Thrive version XXX [Here is where the words RELEASED or UNRELEASED would be] (optional) Estimated percentage of completion: (i.e: 86%) ETA: [insert date here] Planned features: XXX (maybe a list of of completed and uncompleted new features? Or would that be left to the gitHub page?)" Again, just a suggestion. Not trying to push the devs into an ETA. | |

| The planned features is already (or should be, but could be done much better) in place. Also, giving a percent completion estimate for progress I would imagine would be quite hard to give.
However, I think it's a good idea to set some milestones in terms of dates for upcoming releases if it motivates people well and turns out with good results, but if not I don't think it's necessary.

| Ah, thanks! Now, after sudo make install and renaming those libraries, Thrive opens up (woohoo) but all I get is a black screen (boohoo). I can, however, alt-tab out whenever I like, so it seems the game isn't actually unresponsive, just not rendering. Now I'm trying to figure out why.
Edit: 1: Doesn't seem to be entering the game loop 2: fails with config file io errors if I don't run it as root (normal?)

Guys, do note that this is the dev troubleshooting thread (which you should have read if you want to reply), where we don't show off any reproductocase (sic) or anything else, but try to deal with the constantly-simmering frustration of "aaa why it no work" and when the only thread left that can keep me sane gets derailed, I get very miffed. Very. This is why the gracious mods have been making changes lately, so this forum gets more development-friendly. Of course, since Alexthe666 can post here ( I checked, Alex isn't a developer), their efforts so far have come to naught. Which is how we get people like me fed up enough to blow up about it and further derail threads. I'll just go collapse inwards on myself from the sheer hypocrisy of this post...
Edit: Now that this is in Misc, here is my (related) question: Is the mod team planning to go to any further measures to keep productive threads from being derailed? That's one major beef I have with this forum, the intitutionalized thread-derailing. Yes, institutionalized -- Rex, Miss Calli, and all the rest of the old guard did it too, which may be why everybody else does too, since we learn from example and to a naive onlooker, thread-derailing seems like standard practice around here. It really shouldn't be though -- too unproductive.
