PostSubject: Ok...   Organism Editor Concept - Page 2 EmptyThu Sep 19, 2013 11:07 am

So lets see, before i put my hands on it, this would be the changes:
-Put icons beside the Structure (a skull), the systems (a heart) and the surfacing (reptile skin).
-Put the toolbar as it was on the image nick send.

¿Something more?

Don't worry about the icons for the SSS for now, I want to discuss those with ~scio and Oliver. Also, as you asked earlier for models to work on, I can PM you the details. They are all for the Microbe Stage at the moment.

Sorry for not responding earlier. Well, so i proposed to left the toolbar as nick sended it, is this okay? Or should still stretch it?

Spoiler:

P.D: If u want me to still make the images, go ahead and send the details, however, please told me the program to make them, i would prefer to not make it incompatible (is that how it is written?)

Hm, the Thrive logo should be replaced with a text that indicates it's a button to go to the behaviour tab. Right now it'd need a tutorial or something, since it looks more like an aesthetic embellishment rather than a button.
I've on occasion forgotten vital interface sections in software I use fairly often, so it'd be nice if I didn't have to go clicking at all the buttons in the interface until I remember that the behaviour tab is under the thrive logo.
The undo-redo buttons should be on the bottom of the screen, since it's easier to pull the mouse toward yourself (hence the bottom part of the screen is nicer to interact with than the top). Perhaps they could be placed next to the mutation points?

Anyway, the ui in general looks very nice. The cold tones makes it a bit uninviting for me, though... Maybe that's just me. D:

I agree with everything Ymedron says.

IMO the Thrive logo should not be there at all. Instead, there should be another button for the behaviour editor, completely the same as the other buttons beside it. An interface should be focused on functionality and intuitiveness, not aesthetics.

Instead of having a big X in the upper right corner of the screen, it would be better if you just had a red cancel button next to finish.

Undo-Redo should be in the bottom of the screen instead of the rotate buttons, since everybody would probably just use the mouse to rotate the screen.

Here is a revised version of ~scio's cell editor. All you need to do is replace the background and the microbe stats with organism stats and you've got a OE GUI.

One of the only things to work out is where to place the Behaviour Editor button. Also, for now I think it's fine to keep the three S tabs as words and not icons.

I completely agree with you. Who would expect for a Thrive logo to be a button for BEHAVIOR EDITOR!
It makes apsolutely no sense.

Very interesting stuff here.

Though I always envisioned the OE as more of a laboratory look to it... With the parts buttons being dropdowns on the left, With a pop-up menu from the bottom middle that was the name, and then the behaviour menu was below that, and camera control was sort of like it is in Maya...

Though, then again, I got all this thought up when I was first looking at the images on the ModDB. .3.

There is no need to create anymore, we already have the layout finished. Creature stats and icons can be ironed out later. Good job on helping out though.
