EVOLUTIONS IS DEAD

Sven's site is DEAD.

I dont know what happened, but the Evolutions! forum Is 404'ing, and the domain root is giving me a 403.

(for those that dont know, 403 is "forbidden" which means that http requests are being denied by the web server)

It's a long story. Very long.

It all started on the Sporums, somewhere last year, when a guy called Hirnhausen (Sven) announced a new game, with uber-realistic graphics and gameplay that even seemed too complex for even today's supercomputers, and that it was in alpha stage- that means only Sven, and the game's developers can play it. Everyone believed it until someone came to prove them wrong, and it turned out to be fake. Sven later admitted that the whole thing was made up to get EAxis to make Spore better, for fear of competition, but a humble user named ParadoxJuice suggested they make it a reality. So the Evolutions! forums were started up soon after.

Although we made significant progress and gained many new members, we later rebelled against Sven, feeling he dictated us every time he got on (which wasn't often, another thing we didn't like) and he earned a new name; 'Dictator Sven.' In turn, all moderators had their ranked dropped to regular members, and, to return the favor, we packed our bags and left, starting our own forum, which originally sort of branched off of the original project, called Thrive. But then the branch broke, so we became independent. Members flooded in. But then the project came to a halt when the link 404'd, and we suspected that Sven took part in this- fortunately that wasn't so. By the time it was back up, we decided to update, and made yet anothe new forum, far more impressive than the last. So here we are.

All in all, we try to avoid Sven.

BTW, I hope you can understand the above, mike. It's just your spel....nevermind.

We were anyway. Sven's game was a charade after we split, just as it was in the first place.

i had noticed it a few days ago...

just a couple of questions;
just how far were you in the making of evolutions?;
why did the old thrive forums failed and how far was the progress there?

We were not far at all on the old project, we got as far as the finalization of my OE concept and the idea of merging many editors into one tech editor. We are much farther here. We left because the forums were flooded with spambots, out of date concepts and off topic discussion. On top of that, Sven did not give the members much power at all, even the mods. I believe calling him a dictaor is an overreaction and a bit childish, but he gave the game aa bad name.

As awesome of news as this is, it is not really relivent. Sorry, but a lock is needed.
