| OK, so I was thinking: this could be useful to access whenever you are playing org or strat mode whenever you want to just sit back and watch events unfold. However, it would be unfair to be playing org mode and not being able to see behind a curve on a mountain, access observer mode, look around the curve, and see if there are predators or not, something your creature would normally not know. Thoughts on how to solve this problem. | |

Perhaps once you've completed a game, you unlock all other modes- with the exception of strategy mode which could be unlocked later in your first game, a bit after your species becomes sapient. Or maybe after you "finish" your first game, you could have it in your second game.. wait, no.. You could make a game just for observer, or you could just enter God Mode, and not use any God powers and press a hotkey to get rid of the God Mode GUI

Shroud. But then what if you just want to watch a game on observer, without a shroud everywhere? An option to remove shrouding?

Are you saying that something could get in the way of the camera and block our view? Sorry, I'm terrible at riddles.

Shroud. But then what if you just want to watch a game on observer, without a shroud everywhere? An option to remove shrouding? God mode. And... Observer mode has the recording tools. The recording wont be as good and interesting with shroud everywhere. (either I've got you or I'm going to get a very interesting answer... ) And... Why have shroud on observer if they can use god mode from their second game onwards? (Which will, if we make this game good, be almost all of their games) (either I've got you again or I'm going to get a very interesting answer... ) Edit: Not fog in front of the camera, just around objects, rising about 2 meters above the ground, making recordings very uninteresting because you cannot see anything other than the thing being recorded most of the time.

| Unlock observer mode when your species creates ultra-powerful imaging satellites. | |

| Perhaps instead, we could make observer mode have the same camera as creature mode, just with the creature moving and acting on its own. | |

| Umm... Guys? There is no God Mode. Just God Tools. Therefore why is there disagreements about Observer Mode not being able to do the things God Tools can? You can access God Tools in any Mode. Observer Mode IS God Mode, once you have God Tools of course.
And Noit, Fog of War/Shroud is where the game hides things that your controlled unit(s) cannot see.

| Shroud and Fog of War are concepts from RTS games.
Shroud is where any terrain not yet uncovered by the LoS of units is shown as black.
Fog of War is where any non-static units dissapear when LoS is lost. it usually appears as darkened terrain.
LoS == Line of Sight | |

| Thus, we can make the player in god mode or 'god' be able to see all animals, while only taking into account what the animals see. | |

LoS == Line of Sight Ah, I remember now, but then another problem arises; the user could have a rough map after zooming out to the max and using Observer/God Mode to gather this information. Actually, that's the topic the user who made the thread wanted to cover.. Oh, wait, you mean even in the 3d, in-game world a thick fog will hang over areas you haven't observed. It will look strange, but okay.

| They are tools, but it's still a mode of gameplay...
But I guess since it has the possibility to conflict with Organism mode and Creature mode...
That's what god tools are for.

That's what god tools are for. So there will be a god tool to see everything? I think it would be best to unlock that with the first person to ascend in the great ascension, because then you are everywhere, and so see everything... Speaking of which, we don't have a sub-forum for ascension.

| OK, I thought of a way to solve all of this, without having mist and god tools and whatnot.
There would be two Observer Modes.
One mode would be limited mode. It would be available from the beginning of the game. It would have the same camera as your creature, so you would only see as much as if you were controlling your creature, but your organism would act, move, and such without you having to do anything. This way, you would know know more than your organism would.
The Other mode would be unlimited mode, which would be unattached to your creature. It would be gained after ascension, and allow you to see everything.
How would this work for strategy mode, I do not know.
