| Hello. I posted a few of my ideas in the Sporum thread, but i have a feeling some of them may be *outdated*. I have lots of somewhat great ideas which I will share with you lot... if you'll *take me onboard*.
What I have:
-Ideas in general -Lists of awesome music -DarkBasic Game Development Kit - The whole works -No experience in programming whatsoever -Enthusiasm/Wild Imagination/Always wanted to make a game
I'd love to make the game soundtrack if anyone knows some sort of music editor/creator program for windows. I know mac has the awesome garageband, but unfortunately, I don't have mac
I love Frogs.
I also love sci-fi and aliens and all that stufferooney so I'll most likely contribute alot to the space stage of the game.
If it is true that Sketchup can be used as a modelling program I'd also love to do some modeling! I'm not that experienced at modeling, though so... yeah.
I could also do some concept art [maybe - unlikely though] as well as 'border art', that is, the 2d heads up display in almost any game. I could maybe do some sort of prototypes of the HUD or something...
One last idea of mine [for this thread/post]. In Civ stage, we could have the option of going for power sources ect that damage the environment [like humans using coals and all that jazz] that has a huge and very tempting up side, like quick advancing in technology, rapid expansion or whatever, but at the expense of eventully destroying the planet. So the tech tree could have two main sub sections - power over sustainablility.

Welcome!
What I have:
-Ideas in general -Lists of awesome music
Made by yourself? Your friends? Or other people?
-DarkBasic Game Development Kit - The whole works
Heard of this.. sadly, I'm pretty sure we're making our own engine from scratch. On the upside that means awesome graphics and gameplay, specialized just for us! You can still share ideas, anyway.
-No experience in programming whatsoever
It's alright. At least we have another member on board.
-Enthusiasm/Wild Imagination/Always wanted to make a game
Interesting.

If you do a bit of searching around you'll probably find one.
I love Frogs.
Seemed obvious.
I also love sci-fi and aliens and all that stufferooney so I'll most likely contribute alot to the space stage of the game.
Good! I think the game could be sci-fi oriented in some instances. But for the most part it's a sim.
If it is true that Sketchup can be used as a modelling program I'd also love to do some modeling! I'm not that experienced at modeling, though so... yeah.
Well, in truth most buildings, or angular/manufactured objects overall in-game, are planned to be generated procedurally with parameters set in to determine a species' architectural style (is it round? Vertical? Horizontal? Does it float or have lots of green lights?)
I could also do some concept art [maybe - unlikely though] as well as 'border art', that is, the 2d heads up display in almost any game. I could maybe do some sort of prototypes of the HUD or something...
Hmm.. sounds like something we'd like to see (I'm probably not the only one)!

Sounds like something we might want to explore further. So there's my comments. All in all, welcome to the Thrive project!

| Welcome FrogEmpire! Feel free to post any ideas you might have.
Unfortunately, we are not using Sketchup, as we can't integrate it effectively into the game.
As to your last idea, it would probably take a while until the species would realize fossil fuels are dangerous and ecology could kick in.

Uhhhh... No. There is still no true AI, and as such no computer generated building would have ANY consistant aesthetic appeal.

Uhhhh... No. There is still no true AI, and as such no computer generated building would have ANY consistant aesthetic appeal. Ooh. Darn. It'd be a pain to design everything by hand but, thinking about it, it'd really pay off. But think of how many buildings there are in the world.

Still, maybe we could use it for 3D concept art? Nothing to be used in the actual game, but some basic ideas "sketched out" in 3D. @FrogEmpire: Welcome to Thrive!

| Thanks guys...
@Noitulove: The music's just by other companies [ppl like Audiomachine, X-Ray-Dog] just for some ideas we could use when we make our own or something. Also, I did once find this decent music making program but it was basically just sticking pre-made pieces of music together, like in garageband when you are using the loops. I made a few songs on that but they aren't that... flashy.

But think of how many buildings there are in the world. That's why we have set that there will be template buildings provided by us, with random variations provided by the computer.
