Simply put, these are orgs animals that wander through more than one biome. See the wiki page on them here.
Also, I've just finished a whole ton of info on the wiki about biomes.

Is there an issue with them? We can just set them as the organism filling a niche of more than one biome. If just passing through, than they shouldn't have any huge effect outside of massive numbers, and even then we can probably work something out further down the line.

They should fullfill a niche in multiple biomes, though to say they are harmless as they wander through may not always be true (read: locusts and other huge swarmers that strip down most land of food).

All right. We're going to need ones with limited and unlimited biome niches.
Deer for example live in the woods and on the edges of prairies (grasslands) so they'd fill niches in both, but only in things that were categorized as woods or grasslands, (Classify by temp zone and precip, then secession stage.)
Other things - Buzzards, for example, can fill a "scavenger" niche just about anywhere that has sufficient food, and will breed wherever convenient, so they'd be an unlimited traveler.
