Fresh Water Start

So what I was thinking is we could be able to start the game in some type of freshwater body, instead of always starting in the ocean. There could be different benefits and drawbacks to each enviroments.

i did a thread about where we start out as i think a week or two a go and it should be what ever you want like swamp, little water pool, ocean idk but this was already asked just saying the threads name is where we get are foot in the world or something along those lines look it up if you want to no more

Freshwater bodies lack many of the elements and energy required to jumpstart life.

They lack some of the ions found in saltwater, certainly, but this all depends on your definition of "fresh" water. Some of it could very well have runoff from geysers, volcanoes and the like, such as sulfuric acid and such.

Let's do some chemistry about the necessary acids and whether they could be present without salt (as opposed to the chemical composition of the saltwater we know and love today) first. I'd hate to shoot this one down out of hand, as there are some freshwater environments with very distinct organisms (such as the thermophiles that live in gyesers and hot springs) which we just don't know enough about yet.
