| Is there a way you can choose a planet to be on? like in Spore? or is the planet randomly generated once you press a New Game button? | |

| I'm utterly confused right now....It sounds like You can make Your own planet and that You can't at the same time.... | |

| no wait, I remember a while back, before I joined I saw a thing on the wiki, that said that you can make the planet's core, mantle, crust, make it's biome, and etc. So basically we get almost full customization, right Mysterious? | |

| the idea is that you create the planet before starting microbe stage, since then the game deals with the planet's changes, until you get the god tools i guess. | |

From the link, it seems the PPG (Procedural Planet Generator) selects a random template planet, then 'terraforms' it. I would presume this means just simulating it a bit randomly until it's fairly unique. This also means you don't make the planet yourself, it's randomly made by the aforementioned program. This does, however, use the same parts of the program as the Planet Editor, which is the editor in which you can make planets in the way described by MeowMan. You can use this editor in-game when you get advanced terraforming tools (with more options the more advanced they are, ideally). It can also presumably be access from the game's menu. So, you can make your own planets, but you can't choose to start on one you've made. You can edit your starting planet later when you have terraforming tools, although your civilisation would probably get a bit irritated when all their buildings end up leaning sideways, so it'd be best not to. I never thought I'd use the word 'aforementioned'...

| Can you at least create your solar system and designate which planet you start on? i have my ideal race in my head and my dreams will crumble if i can't get my home planet right. | |

| Remember what the READ BEFORE POSTING thread says: - Quote :

And on the topic, no your first planet will be partly random, with some parameters, you can set but definitely not shaping the entire solar system.

| I think I've been in this before but I've the memory of a slug so I must ask. How can you evolve the way you want to if the planet says no?
Let's say that a planet has a large gravitational pull, and that it would be very difficult to even jump, much less fly, but you want a creature that can soar gracefully through the air. There's a problem there, isn't it?
But you say you can set some parameters. Could you therefore make a planet where it's so easy to fly you have a harder time staying on the ground, as an example? I like realism as much as the next guy, don't get me wrong, but people won't like the game if they have one idea for their species, but the Random planet parameters don't allow for it.
