| Hello there everyone, and I must say I am very excited to be here. Ever since the first day my friend showed me Spore in 2007, I have dreamed for a realistic, immersive, and in-depth game that throws you into a massive galaxy that never ceases to amaze me. To my eternal dissapointment, Spore fell massively short of that expectation. Ever since then, I have been on and off searching for four years for an alternative game, any alternative to EA's creation; but it seemed like the idea of a revolutionary, evolutionary game had died down. Now that I have found this site, this team, this game, I am so reinvigorated with the same excitement I felt five years ago, and I am ever willing to contribute whatever support I can towards this game's development.
Although I am no expert, I have attempted to recreate pen and paper versions of what Spore should have been in the past couple of years, and I would be glad to be able to contribute those same ideas to Thrive. I also will be sure to tell all my Wanting-an-evolution-game-because-they're-dissapointed-with-Spore friends about this project as well, and hopefully they will join the ranks and provide their assistance.
Thanks again all for having me, and sorry for the long rant, but this is like a dream come true!

| nice to have you here, the boss around here is ~sciocont, his name is blue, can't miss him. As for help ideas are good and we would love to hear them but something we really need is more coders. specifically something called "c++", you can learn more about it through this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyVhn0FWWB4 it's a very good series, and it's helped a lot of people including a lot of my friends who didn't know the first thing about coding. Books will help too, (much more very often) but they get pretty complicated, mathy, and can take quite a bit of time to understand. | |

I will definitely begin my journey into the world of programming, but first I think a more valuable asset to this project would be if I could get two of my programmer friends to join. Both of them have played Spore and were dissapointed, and now want a better evolution game.

| Yes, if you yourself learned programming and also brought a few programmer friends, it would be a huge help. |

| Welcome! Make sure you've read the wiki and FAQs, links can be found on the bar to the left of the page. If you have any questions and can't find the answer in the wiki or the relevant section of the forums then you can ask about it here. Forum bugs can be reported in that thread too. That should get you started, and I look forward to your ideas. | |

| Actually, I made sure to acquaint myself well with the forum and wiki before joining, and so far everything I have read is simply fascinating. It is clear to me that this cooperative sharing of thoughts is extremely effective at producing one of the biggest projects ever. You guys have come up with such amazing ideas and models for the game, I can't wait to play it!
However, there is one question I have, and I do not know whether its been covered before or not, although I have searched thoroughly through both the wiki and forums. Are techs restricted to ones with direct results? Like for example the research of currency adds currency into the game, but what about a tech such as Scientific Method? Basically, before a civilization can truly have a rapid succession of scientific discoveries they need a method of organizing their research, experimentation, and observations. This tech would not provide any new policies to adopt or function parts, but would give a bonus to tech/research/science. Will these kinds of techs be in the game? It's an idea I got from Galactic Civilizations 2.

| Sciocont, ive been looking through both the wiki and this forum but i cant find a tech tree with scientific method listed on it. Where can i access the latest version of the game's techs? Is that part of the game even still under development or is it already complete? | |

| I found a link to the research web (v2), from the first post of the research web thread, if it helps, and scientific method is on it. It's from over a year ago, though. Download | |
