When is the next update gonna be out!

This game looks super cool and i know it will take a VERY long time and is nearly entirely community made, but i was thinking if there was a plan for the next version of the prototype. Also, i have some basic skills in computers, well rounded in everything, and would love to help, just tell me how!

With winter break started, hopefully most of the developers'll be able to get academics off their backs and get the finishing touches in. They'll probably have something by the end of the year, if everything goes right, even if it's not exactly what they wanted to put up for the world. From what I know, the new GUI is at most very close to finished, and all that's left is for it to be properly integrated, which will hopefully be bolstered by the lightened real-life loads. There's just the matter of Christmas shopping (dear Spode, if someone gets trampled).

I'm not in charge of sorting folks, so you'd best wait for someone more high-up to come by and write down a post.

I would strongly hope the next release to arrive before the end of the month, but seeing as Moopli's briefly disappeared despite the lightened workload of the break, I'm beginning to worry myself.

As MitochondriaBox says, the GUI just needs a few tweaks to get it working in-game (mostly Lua scripting, hence why I haven't been able to do it). Sound effects have been in the game so long I'd almost forgotten they're also part of this release, but I guess that just shows how slow we've been. The opening cutscene is another thing that should be in 0.2.4, but unfortunately it requires an update to the code base to work properly, which appears to have destabilised some coding already in place, so it's unlikely we'll see it in place that soon.

Anyway, do you mean disappeared as in no word from him (he could just be working on it in privacy) or disappeared disappeared (he's actively supposed to tell you guys something, but he hasn't)? The very worst that could happen (apart from him being d-e-d or r-u-n-n-o-f-t) is his computer having broken. How long would it take for it to be fixed/replaced, would you assume, if that were the case?

Hi, I'm going to sleep now, but I'll get back to working on the GUI first thing when I wake up.

There are a few GUI things (like the improved save/loading and the changes to editor behaviour depending on whether it's accessed from menu vs stage) that need extra work besides the GUI, so tomorrow as a Christmas present to y'all I'll try to get all the other parts of the GUI done, and hopefully merged, so I can take those gnarlier bits in turn. If we ship without those gnarlier bits, we'll at least have the new GUI, but we'd have lost some features along the way.

@ArmandLegGames: What sort of skill? Can you, say, use a command-line interface for your computer? (like bash, or powershell, or something). Can you write or read code? Have you ever built a program from source before? Vim or emacs? Do you use linux? Why or why not? When you say well-rounded, do you mean your skillset is well-rounded, and/or do you mean your knowledge-base is well-rounded? Can you give examples of the sorts of skills/knowledge you have that make you well-rounded?

Oh, and since there isn't actually any company or whatever onvolved in the creation of this game, I'd say it is entirely community-made. But that's a minor point :p

Ok, i Can read and write code, i know a few languages, yeah, i dont use linux, becuase i dont have experience with it, and what language are your using

We are using C++ and Lua. I believe everything you need to know to compile the program is in the front page of git (be sure to scroll down in main page). I got stuck like 3/4th threw the process on some submodule error, tutorial says its for windows, not sure if you can compile it on macs. I recommend doing the lua parts because they're far easier to do.
