Application for Additions to concept art, and Wiki management

Hi, people who run the forums, but I don't know all the names of yet. I am Piminy, avid artist, conceptualist, (not that you need more of those) and lover of wikis. Or is it wikae? Oh well.

As most people who are making an application these days, I've had my eye on Thrive for a while, but it looked like you guys had enough help in the art department, and I did not think I had anything else to offer. Then I saw your comment about needing help tidying up the wiki. I'm not much of a programmer, but I do have experience coding and editing wiki pages.

I would like to offer my services as a wiki housekeeper, if you will, to this team, who seem to be showing quite a bit of dedication to a worthwhile project. Others I have seen have sputtered out, but this one continues to Thrive.

If you have any openings at all in the art department, I would love to help there too.

Concept art is unfortunately a tricky area to apply for as it's not what everyone thinks it is - we don't want pretty pictures of imagined scenarios in-game, just lots of iterations on ideas (say a part which could be resized, which you'd show by drawing various manipulations of the part). If you think you're up for that, welcome aboard!

Wiki management is something we do definitely need. I'll post what we last posted when someone wanted to apply to help with the wiki:

Whenever I try to sign in, it does not recognize the password I give it, and I then have to use the "forgot your password" link.

So, who should I talk to, or where should I post to get started with the art/wiki stuff? Do I just draw microbe stuff on a whim, or is there a list of things that need doing?

I think there are a bunch of things we could use some concept art for right now, but our visual art team hasn't really existed lately so we haven't had an organized task list in a while. You want to help with wiki management too, which implies you're willing to trawl old threads for info, so if you could help out with collating an art task list that would be great. I'm sure you've looked in the graphics subforum, so you can see that it's essentially dead.

Just off the top of my head, here are a few things:
* In the microbe gui thread, there is some talk about how we will display various compound amounts. We need to figure out this piece of UI sooner or later. UI design, though, is pretty different from other kinds of art/design work, so if you want to start with something else that's cool.
* In general, we haven't really settled on the look/feel of the microbe stage. Stuff like the shape of microbe membranes, their textures, the look of various environmental 'features' (clouds of compounds, bacterial colonies, pieces of fine particulate matter, etc), we have various ideas but little drawn and discussed thoroughly.

So, I guess we can start by figuring out what could be done in the first place. You should have access to the graphics subforum now (if you don't just lemme know), we can continue this planning conversation here or in some relevant thread there.
