| Aside from the evenness, it would have taken me a bit to notice that the water was fake. I have an issue with the trees though. They're all clones, and spaced far too evenly for our use. The line where they stop is also terribly artificial. Someone please reassure me that we aren't going to be clone-stamping our biomes like that... Thank you. On the other hand, there's definitely enough randomness in the terrain.

| Graphics weren't my issue - it was the way brushing on the forest was done. We'll have better procedures for that, or I'll know the reason why. | |

| For the trees they seem to be blending some perlin noise together. I think the problem is caused by how far apart the trees are, and how randomly the trees are spaced. It's not difficult, really. | |

| The trees are just billboards. And what's the point of this thread? Unless you're talking about integration, i don't realy see one. | |

| The chance of this really depends on if we have more programmers. They have more than one person, that's for sure. | |

| Well, the way I program, I never usually set goals. What happens happens, and if it looks cool, great.
If we want graphics like this, we should probably look into a separate engine besides raw openGL calls. If bashi can write a water-reflector and a ray casting shadow making engine, we should use openGL.
All in all, those graphics you see will be the refined-amazingness of the final product. We wont be seeing it for a while. | |

| To answer Scio, the point of this thread was for those of us who can program to start having a peek into what they're using for that water of theirs. bill, the consensus has been to avoid cartoonishness whenever possible. (It's one of those things that sets us apart from Spore.) So don't worry much about it. | |
