Hi... I have very little knowledge of the game making world, yet I know that Thrive will be better than spore. Or rather, what spore would be. Still, I'd like to help any way I can. (look out for barrels)

Thrive has existed as a concept for longer than this forum has been around. It used to be called Evolutions. However, that project never made any actual progress, so a bunch of people seceded from Evolutions and created Thrive.

I've been following the project since way back then, but I never posted before this latest iteration of the forums. For more detailed information on the old days, you should ask one of the veterans.

I see... has this been going on ever since spore came out?

Not quite that long. I think I remember the initial Evolutions ad (which turned our to be a hoax) coming out sometime in 2009.

Yeah, and then we left that project and made Thrive, but our old forum broke so we went to this new one.

Well now you know the story (most of it anyways), i guess there's nothing for an old-timer like me to say except welcome! I hope your time here proves to be interesting and constructive.

Welcome! I can provide you with some dates if you want.


Evolutions! project was a hoax posted on the Sporum in early 2009. At around June, Sven founded an Evolutions! forum, where we gathered many concepts and good people.

Unfortunately, Sven turned out to be a horrible admin, so at March 2010, we have packed up and moved to the first Thrive forum. That was a darker age for us, not much work got done and many members from Evolutions were just watching, but not contributing. After some time, technical problems started to appear and at June 2010 the forum went down forever.

After a week, Scio managed to get these forums up, and from that time we have gathered most members that were active at Evolutions forum, got two coders and got a lot of work done. And that's where we are now.

Welcome to Thrive, the project that has had lots of stuff happen to it, and deserves an entire documentary when it reaches completion!

It doesn't really matter. He was just rather anti-democratic with the ideas. And since he had total control over the forums, they said what he wanted them to say.

Put short and simply, we didn't have control over the forums and he wasn't on, so most of the time the forum had no true moderator...
