| Sorry I posted here because I'm unable to post here https://thrivegame.canadaboard.net/f23-engines (???) What about the Space Engine? It's free, open source and looks exactly what Thrive needs! A short description: "Space Engine is the definitive procedurally generated universe filled with billions of stars, planets, galaxies and other scenery for you to explore until the end of time." Sorry if someone already suggested it.

| I love Space Engine. My profile picture/concept is all made with Space Engine. I think, however, it's already been suggested, and I think ~scio may have even talked to the creator about it and those talks went nowhere. Shame really. It might've been great for Thrive.
P.S. this really belongs in the Miscellaneous Bugs and Questions that Don't Deserve Their own Thread Thread, for future reference.

| I think that scio contacted the games author some time, but nothing really emerged from that.
Also, I doubt SpaceEngineer(Game Author) would want to give us the engine and code. He is a very nice person, but is already planning to release a game of his own using the engine.
On a side note, my profile picture was made in space engine as well.

| Also, Jiko, this has been mentioned on several other threads, so see if you could have read up the responses to those or posted on the Misc thread like Jacob said before starting a new thread. | |

The fact that most of the pictures made in space engine don't even need to be edited to look beautiful is really what makes me use the simulator a lot to just take pictures. Also, absolutely no offense intended to the author, but maybe a mod should lock this thread since it's somewhat useless.

Sorry if someone already suggested it. Wait, open source? Either I'm missing the part where the source is located or you just slipped there. I would actually love to take a look at the code there. If it is indeed open source, could you put a link to where the source is located?

| I read OpenGL somewhere, isn't OpenGL open source? Maybe it's not, I'm pretty sure things under that license are free to redistribute and modify. EDIT: Just checked and it isn't sorry about that. | |

| Well, OpenGl IS opensource, but that doesent mean anything built with it is opensource. About half of the games built nowadays use openGL, and most of the rest suport it as an alternative to DirectX.
OpenGL is the graphics library they are using. That means, the code that allows them to draw things on screen.

| Sorry I confused with GNU GPL, that is the license they use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License | |

| I was thinking about posting about this, but I didn't think we would be able to apply the program itself in any way. | |

| Using space engine is ideal, however it might cause difficulties in programming. | |

| I think we should make this clear to people once and for all: We are not going to use space engine- it's not our game. Someone else made it and he is the one that's going to decide what the game will be used for and what not.

| Yes. I think we should make some section like ,,read before joining''! where we would say:
1.We wont use SpaceEngine 2.We wont use kickstarter
To reduce quenstions flow.
