| Subject: Positive and negative points of the various political systems. Sun Jul 21, 2013 2:54 pm | |
| A few months ago I proposed a discussion which covered the various points (in percentage) on the effects of a given political system, but then was lost.
I do not know if we discussed it and if not we could do it here in this discussion.
How to assign the various positive and negative points of a particular government?

| OK well heres a few possible effects then.
Monarchy: Fast law changes, Cheaper than electing people (infrequent changes of power), possibilty of civil war from different claims to the throne, expensive to maintain
Republic: Slower law changes, cost of elections, people are happier (better represented),

How to assign the various positive and negative points of a particular government? That thread wasn't lost, it just became obsolete. I had pointed out that there will not be political archetypes in the game, and so it meant that there was not much point in discussing monarchy, republic, despotism, etc. Instead the player will be able to configure the more specific elements of how their government functions. These come together to form any archetype they want. The player can even name their government form and the leader's title.

| How does the player go about configuring this then? | |

| It's something I will do a post on soon. I have done some posts on it in the past, I think.
There are several pull-down menus, as well as sliders, that when combined define your government. You set how your rulers are selected, how your governors are selected, how advisors are selected, how your legislative body is selected, and the three freedoms sliders (social, religious, and economic). Some of these begin the game locked to the player, such as governors, advisors, and legislative body. Governors are used to automate cities, advisors automate panels in the interface (trade, military, research, etc.) and your legislative body just makes people happy and makes it so that every time you want to make a big decision, such as declaring war, you have to get the body's permission.
