It's the same reason we'll code in classes for heads, limbs, etc into the OE. It's way easier to do it the fast way, and works much better in the game.
Not to mention that the simpler the code is, the few bugs we'll have and the easier they'll be to remove.

Leave it for now. Locked threads tend to not be looked at. Also, there may be other concerns brought up later on.

Also also, could we add this to the wiki perhaps?

A quick look at wildlife of the Amazon and Serengeti clinches that color is important to survivability. This seems to necessitates that the software needs to know what color the plants are so it can compare the average deviation of an animal's color pallette vs. the foliage. Less deviation raises camouflage, obviously. More deviation could increase reproductive success for both plants (as in flowers) as well as animals (as in tropical birds). It's a bit OT to discuss animal coloration here, but there must be some correlation between that and the background color, which means it's a selectable trait, which means it's a relevant trait.

If optimal leaf color is hard-wired to star color, the whole thing seems easier - provided the software is capable of doing something like a pallette comparison, which I have no idea about. Although, it doesn't address factors like camouflage against bark, or patterning, but that starts to branch into a whole other discussion.

It seems like the remaining question is simply whether such a pallette comparison is possible, and it doesn't seem to belong in this thread.
