**ALL STAGES OF THRIVE WILL BE DYNAMIC; THERE WILL BE NO CUTSCENES OR SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS WHEN AN ADVANCE IS MADE. STAGE PROGRESSION HAPPENS STEADILY AND DYNAMICALLY.**

Aware is pretty simple. You are multicellular, and have developed a conscience (a simple one at best). You are basically just an animal. Like I said, simple.

If they evolve to that point it will happen. There is no punishment for being slow.

There is no punishment for being slow.

Other than having the disadvantage of stronger opponents.

Many animals are slow of course, because being fast requires more energy.

Oh, I thought we were talking about speed of evolution/civilisation development.

I was talking about civilization/tribe development, anyways, like if your a creature for way too long there could be tribes that form up and they may hunt you/use you as a herded animal. ect but i guess that would make the player pretty mad since it would be harder to make a tribe with another tribe breathing down your neck at that point...

No, we need to have this in the game. It's the most realistic option.

And it'd be fun to be a herded animal and then all of a sudden do a creature level breakout and then kill all the inhabitants of the city/town/village and make your own tribe after a while...

Actually, it was love, not war. But on topic; anything that can happen, can happen.

I would wait for them to develop civilizations and then evolve into a dragon and terrorize the countryside.

How i mentioned before, i think thrive should be a very modular game with the options. So a large option menu system, where you can also determe, if creatures on your homeworld should be able to develop beyond your evolutionary state, and how fast. So everybody could configure their game like they want to. Otherwise it could indeed become a problem for people who want to have a slow game, or a game where they could become a tamed animal or something similar. Many people would want to play the game after their preferences. And this would only work when it is highly configurable.

Ok, could work aswell in the sandbox god mode, but the question is, where the line between god mode and the options should be drawn.

That would be nice and complicated and have to be released later, but still a good idea.
